In this weeks #TestimonyThursday we hear from Scott Well Jesus, we’ve been friends for a long time. But I finally did it, I became Catholic! The experience was really like I expected it to be, not a lot different than boot camp, just a lot longer. There are a lot of rules, and choices I have to make to live my life for you. The journey through OCIA was where we learned about all those things. But that’s not the important part, the most important part is the relationships built throughout the class, and growing with you. We all had different backgrounds and came with our own baggage, but through our common goal of wanting to grow with you we got to know each other really well. Twenty years from now when I look back on the experience I won’t look back and remember how nervous I was to share with strangers, or how I had been raised to not discuss religion or politics with a group. What I will remember are the people, and hopefully over those twenty years I’ll get to know them better as we grow in you. Come, Lord Jesus. #ATX #Catholic

Laurie's Story Laurie and her husband Tom have been attending New Life for nine years and faithfully serve at our Food Pantry. Two and a half years ago, Laurie finished treatments for a very aggressive form of breast cancer. Several weeks ago she had a six month oncology appointment and they found something. As soon as she heard the results, Laurie reached out to the prayer team and friends to start praying. Immediately she felt fear from the enemy invading her mind but she stood upon the Word and rebuked it. Laurie continued to seek prayer during altar ministry and from her church family. A couple weeks later, she had another scan and the doctors found nothing. What they had found just weeks before was completely gone! Laurie experienced a miraculous healing and firmly believes God still moves and hears us. Laurie explained, “He is so good! Psalm 23 says, ‘Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life!’ It has followed me and it overtakes me!” We’re so blessed to have Laurie and Tom as a part of our church! It is time for another #TestimonyThursday! Hi my name is Nicky. I was an au pair in the Netherlands. It was one of the best years of my life. I got to experience so much from changing dippers to making new friends to traveling to so many different countries. I looked after three really energetic boys who made every moment there amazing in every fun and challenging situation. The family I was with was really incredible towards me. They helped me adjust to living there and treated me as part of the family, which I really appreciate. HBN gave me the opportunity to experience a new country and culture in a safe environment. #TestimonyThursday is back for our 2024 OCIA members! Each week on Thursday we'll introduce one of them and share their testimony! This week's testimony is from Will. In many ways the OCIA process for me was an invitation into a life I never knew was possible. Through the first meeting in August to the Easter Vigil nine months later, each encounter welcomed you into a deeper, and for many entirely new, relationship with Christ. Before I entered into this transition, I felt that I had a solid understanding of what knowing Christ was. I prayed, I knew scriptures, I tried my best to live a virtuous life and I felt that was the extent of what my faith needed to be. Throughout my life though, peaks and valleys, I felt there was some aspect missing. OCIA was the opportunity to know for certain if that missing piece was within the Catholic Church. I can confidently say after this journey I am born anew and whole. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone the new is here!” This was the experience I know I have had, and also the one I witnessed on the faces of so many of my classmates as they were not only filled with Joy on the night of the Easter Vigil, but also peace that only God can provide.

Testimony Thursday: A few years back, I faced one of life’s toughest challenges. Everything seemed to be crumbling, and I felt lost. I cried out to God, pleading for help, and all I heard was “Trust me.” I recall feeling lost and reaching out, saying, “Lord, I need you now.” It was a journey to fully trust and surrender to God. I faced challenges for a couple of years by relying on my own understanding and emotions. Finally, I had a breakthrough when I chose to wholeheartedly surrender to God. I clung to that faith, even during moments when the struggle seemed isolating. Looking back now, I’m grateful for that trust, realizing that God was with me all along, even in the moments of uncertainty. So, I encourage you, as I was once encouraged: Trust GOD even when it’s hard. He will open doors for you that you never imagined, and guide you towards opportunities that will enrich your life. Trust in His plan, have faith in His timing, and believe that everything happens for a reason. Stay true to your values, listen to your intuition, and follow the path that aligns with your purpose. “How could I NOT be skeptical?! We were in the care of 2 dieticians, 2 GI specialists and a GI surgeon; a pediatrician and a general family medical doctor whose recommendations were NOT working and you’re telling me a couple capsules from a network marketing company will help?
