Before joining Pendleside, Karin cared for people living with dementia for 24 years in a variety of care settings, which she loved! ๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐๐ฌ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฃ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ข๐ฅ? My job role varies each day. I have a lot of face-to-face contact with service users on a daily basis; I assist with patient transport, picking up patients from their homes, I help in all the different groups that we have on at the Hospice, and I work with my team to fulfil all of our admin tasks. Overall, I provide physical and emotional support to our service users, as and when it's needed. ๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐จ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐๐? I enjoy all aspects of working at Pendleside, particularly how we all come together as a team to meet the needs of our patients. Since starting here, everyone has been so kind, friendly and supportive to me and have made me feel very welcome. Spending time with my family and going out walking with my dog. I also enjoy winding down to a good book. The report said: โThere was a strong, visible person-centred culture that was promoted by service leaders. Staff were highly motivated and inspired to offer care that was kind and promoted peopleโs dignity. Feedback from patients and those who are close to them was continually positive about the way staff treat people, and feedback reviewed showed 100 per cent of family and people accessing psychological support clients were very Satisfied with the service." Meet Robyn Birtwistle - a true hero! ๐ค She's part of #teampendleside and is getting set to run the London Marathon later this month in memory of her brave mum Jo, who sadly lost her life to cancer in 2019 ๐ Robyn has been raising money for Pendleside Hospice for years, and she's already smashed it out of the park, raising thousands ๐คฉ But this time she's set her sights on an impressive ยฃ2000 ๐๐ผ Speaking about why she's doing it all, Robyn said ๐ฃ๏ธ I want to raise copious amounts of money for Pendleside as they are such a worthy cause; Cancer devastates the lives of not just the sufferers, but also the families. Pendleside were so supportive, not just during my motherโs death, but afterwards, too - the support they gave to me was just unrivalled. Carl Hodgson is showing incredible dedication by undergoing rigorous training to participate in the London Marathon ๐๐ผ He's not just doing it for himself, but also in memory of his Mum who sadly passed away due to breast cancer in 2019 ๐ฅฐ Carl's mum spent a total of 10 days at the hospice before she passed away. He said ๐๐ผ ''The care and devotion the nurses gave Mum were second to none theses people are real-life angels and running the marathon and raising some much-needed funds is the least I can do to repay them.
