🌟 Artist Spotlight: Lillian Hackett At 17 years old, Lillian Hackett is an emerging singer-songwriter from Lovettsville, VA. Lillian’s deep appreciation for music started at a young age, as she was immersed in a vibrant music scene within her community. Weekends spent attending barn dances, folk festivals, and bonfire jams enriched her musical style and exposed her to the heritage of old-time and bluegrass music. Drawing from these influences, she weaves a soulful and authentic musical experience with a natural inclination toward New Americana music. Her debut single “Tennessee” delves into the feeling of admiring someone who does not notice you in return. It was inspired by a “hallway crush” from school and the pick-up line, “Are you from Tennessee, because you’re the only Ten I see.” From a behind-the-scenes story on the set of Dawson’s Creek, this pick-up line was once uttered by Katie Holmes to her dad, who served as an extra. Retold to her countless times since her childhood, it became the spark for the song, and she wanted it to be a lighthearted and relatable story that would make people smile. We can’t wait to welcome Lillian to Fallsburg Summer Stage next weekend! #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

🌟 Artist Spotlight: Cole Chaney “Originally from Boyd County, KY, Chaney has since relocated to Lexington and is sure to be the next big thing coming out of Kentucky. At only 21 years old, Chaney’s catalog may be small, but he already boasts an absolute masterpiece of an album in which he proves wise beyond his years. Mercy, his debut album released in 2021, is a 12-song showcase of Eastern Kentucky, blue collar anthems highlighted by Chaney’s deft lyricism and storytelling. An unknown musician prior to the album’s release, Chaney has since experienced a meteoric rise in popularity and has quickly amassed a growing and dedicated fan base, already thirsty for new music.” -Whiskey Riff We can’t wait to welcome Cole to Fallsburg Summer Stage next weekend! #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

Kentucky-born and New Orleans-raised, he pulls from the life he’s lived in both parts of the country, creating a unique urban-folk writing style. 🌟 Artist Spotlight: Jeremy Short With an orange mustache, golden voice and cherry red Gibson ES-335, Appalachian Space Funk artist Jeremy Short has quickly risen to the top shelf of must-hear players on the scene. Jeremy has been touring, singing and playing his guitar for nearly 20 years. Having shared the stage with many notable acts (Tyler Childers, Kingfish, Marcus King, Taj Mahal, Rev Peyton’s Big Damn Band), and notched his belt with festivals like Bonnaroo, Floydfest, Mountain Music Festival, Master Musicians Festival, & Healing Appalachia, the future for Short is looking bright. Jeremy just announced his “Live From Healing Appalachia EP” that was recorded at last years’ Healing Appalachia Festival. The EP features five songs from that night. All proceeds surrounding this release will go back to Healing Appalachia to support their mission. He also recently announced his summer tour, which kicks of with us at Fallsburg Summer Stage! With radio-ready hits like “Trance”, “Happy Trees”, and “Rock of Ages”, Short encourages you to forget the stress of life and get lost in his music. “Sometimes, you just gotta dance to get it out. So if you feel like dancing, dance. If you feel like singing along, do it. Do what feels right.” We can’t wait to welcome Jeremy to Fallsburg Summer Stage later this month! #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

🌟 Artist Spotlight: The Local Honeys Though many artists are defined by place, only a handful of artists come to define the places they’re from. The Local Honeys are Kentucky and Kentucky runs through their veins like an unbridled racehorse. When a master songsmith like Tom T Hall calls an artist “a great credit to a wonderful Kentucky tradition” it’s time to pull up a chair and pay attention. As it pertains to The Local Honeys he was right on the money. For almost a decade the duo (Montana Hobbs and Linda Jean Stokley) have been an integral part of the Kentucky musicscape. They’ve paid their dues, garnering countless accolades and accomplishments (tours with Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, praise from the New York Times) and have become the defining sound of real deal, honest-to-god Kentucky music. With their self-titled debut on La Honda Records, (home of some of today’s most gifted songwriters; Colter Wall, Riddy Arman, Vincent Neil Emerson) the duo have set forth on a journey to create something true to themselves while pushing the envelope within the traditions they hold dear. Carefully crafted vignettes of rural Kentucky soar above layers of deep grooves and rich tones masterfully curated by longtime mentor Jesse Wells, Grammy nominated producer and musician. Throughout The Local Honeys, the duo demand to be interpreted as creators and storytellers, not just purveyors of tradition. Similarly, the sounds captured within the project cement their place as innovators and rule breakers. We can’t wait to welcome The Local Honeys to Fallsburg Summer Stage later this month! #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

5/2/2024, 10:49:52 PM

🌟 Artist Spotlight: Sean Whiting With a power vocal reminiscent of the sounds of the 70’s, Kentucky rock artist, Sean Whiting, resides along what is known as the Country Music Highway but he is unapologetically rock and roll. Pulling from his influences of the great rock and blues acts of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, Sean’s music is saturated with an almost swampy feeling of the south and a unique blend of soul, blues, and rock. With over 25 years of writing and performing under his belt, Sean has a commanding stage presence that is both entertaining and electrifying. Having only embarked on a full-time solo career a few years ago, Sean has 3 full length albums and an E.P. under his belt with and has toured in support of them extensively throughout the region and Midwest. His band, The Big Badness, is comprised of Austin Lewis (guitar), Trevor Litteral (bass), Tommy Oney (guitar) and Sam Rogers (drums), some of the region’s finest musicians. If you like soaring power vocals, loud guitars, and thunderous drums and bass, then you’re sure to be a fan of Sean Whiting and The Big Badness. We can’t wait to welcome Sean to Fallsburg Summer Stage later this month! #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

We’re excited to announce our surprise addition to the roster this year! 👇 If you guessed right, you’ll be entered to win a FREE ticket to Fallsburg Summer Stage 2024—we’ll announce the lucky winner tomorrow! 🌟 Artist Spotlight: Arlo McKinley In 2019, Arlo McKinley played a show at the High Watt in Nashville. While he had years of such gigs on the DIY singer-songwriter circuit behind him, this night was different. In the audience was one of his musical heroes, John Prine. When they met briefly beforehand, Prine, who never gave praise lightly, told Arlo he was a fan. McKinley recalls, “Just that moment, if that’s where it ended, it would’ve been one of the coolest things that ever happened to me, something I remembered forever.” But it didn’t end there. Shortly after, he was signed to Oh Boy Records, Prine’s indie label. Arlo came into 2020 with the momentum of a new album on deck – his first with a producer and a street team – and an international tour booked. Then things took a strange turn. “Right before the record came out, my mother passed away,” he says. “She had always supported me and she didn’t get to see this stuff happen for me. Then one of my best friends died shortly after. And I lost two other friends to drug addiction. I was trying to navigate through all the emotions of that.” And of course, like all musicians that year, he couldn’t tour. A soft-spoken introvert who’s open about his past drink and drug addictions, McKinley had to look to himself to find comfort. And in the process, he wrote the songs for what’s become his latest release, the aptly-titled THIS MESS WE’RE IN. We can’t wait to welcome Arlo back to Fallsburg Summer Stage in May—and special thanks for helping us with our surprise! 😉 #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

🌟 Artist Spotlight: Tommy Prine Tommy Prine’s debut album This Far South (released 6/23/23) is not only a long-awaited introduction but a testimony to Prine’s 20s and the loss, love, and growth that has defined them. Co-produced by a close friend and kindred musical spirit, Ruston Kelly, and beloved Nashville engineer and producer, Gena Johnson, the album is rich and dynamic from cathartic jams to nostalgic storytelling. Prine is currently crisscrossing the country playing full band headlining shows as well as festivals. Last year, Prine opened for Tyler Childers on the “Send In The Hounds Tour” and was named one of Amazon Music’s 2023 Breakthrough Artists to Watch. He wrapped up 2023 by making his Grand Ole Opry debut in December. The son of late songwriting legend, John Prine, Tommy Prine grew up in Nashville surrounded by music, art and writing. As a child, he thought all parents were musicians, as his father “going to work” meant performing shows for adoring fans and writing songs. Tommy learned to play guitar by watching his father play, copying the ways his fingers moved and inadvertently developing his own singular style. Summers in Ireland lent their own inspiration, as did 10 straight years camping at Bonnaroo. Prine’s musical tastes grew to become decidedly eclectic, spanning John Mayer, Outkast, Bon Iver, the Strokes and more. It wasn’t until Prine reached his mid-twenties, though, that he considered a career of his own in music and began to share with others the songs he wrote in private. His songs were quickly met with excitement and enthusiasm, which sonically brings together a colorful patchwork of musical influences and lyrically explores existential questions and emotional experiences. We can’t wait to welcome Tommy Prine to Fallsburg Summer Stage in May! #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

🌟 Artist Spotlight: Cody Christian Cody Christian was born and raised in Powhatan, Virginia on a healthy diet of Jesus music and hot pockets. He started playing guitar in his teen years at his local church and quickly transitioned to playing in a traveling worship band while still in high school. At the age of 20, he moved to Newport News, Virginia to be a ship fitting apprentice. Soon after beginning that career he started up the band, “Every King & Commoner” where he played lead guitar and sang lead vocals. Since the band’s inception, they have gained a loyal following in the Hampton Roads region. They earned some notable achievements such as the Veer Music Award for Song of The Year in 2018, and Battle of The Bands at the historic marquee venue that was Shakas Live. With the Covid-19 pandemic putting a halt to all live music ventures, Cody settled in with his unhindered thoughts and guitars and began writing songs. Since then he has put out 2 solo EP’s, quit his job, and played countless shows along the east coast and beyond. Cody Christian is an almost full-time music-singing man since his abrupt and seemingly foolish departure from his 8-year career as a shipbuilder. He generates enough audio streams to buy two Taco Bell combos monthly. His quest to make noise in front of the masses by any means necessary is currently underway. Cody has opened up for Charles Wesley Godwin, The Red Clay Strays, Muscadine Bloodline, Mike and the Moonpies, Arlo McKinley, Del McCoury Band, Eric Pasley, amongst many others. We can’t wait to welcome Cody to Fallsburg Summer Stage in May! #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

🌟 Artist Spotlight: Kindred Valley Indie folk band Kindred Valley started when three friends with a passion for music met at Marshall University in 2020. Initially under the name Back Row Baptists, Blake Lacy, Noah Freeman and Brett McCoy met in Huntington, West Virginia, and began writing and recording music together. The band released its first singles as a trio but found its footing in 2021 with three new members - Husband and Wife Rachael and Jadon Hayes and Kaden Salmons. With three new members and a flurry of new ideas, the band needed a new name. Now named Kindred Valley, Lacy and Salmons wrote an early version of the band’s single “Whistle” during the group’s first meet-up. With new blood and fresh ideas flowing, Kindred Valley released its fifth single, “The Wedding Song,” in 2021. After almost two years of creative efforts, the group released its self-titled debut album at the end of 2022. The album contains remastered versions of some of the band’s first singles and new music that showcases Kindred Valley is deeply connected to their Appalachian roots while casting a bold vision for their future. 🌟 Artist Spotlight: Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle It’s hard to stay still around these boys. They’ve got that toe-tapping, knee-slapping, boot-stomping kind of sound. They get you moving and shaking. Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle—part rowdy honkytonk, part old-time pioneers—equates to a sound that sticks with your soul and leaves you singing barefoot into the star sky. They pull from all sorts of genres—from Lead Belly to John Prine, from Woody Guthrie to Willy Tea Taylor —to create something unique and deep-rooted. These guys lean into the rhythms of the Ohio River Valley—where they’ve walked upon—and look to the songs in the muddy water and the tradition it carries. To get “hustled” is to get the full-body musical experience—that head-boppin’, hip-swaying, soul-singing with the stranger next to you. It’s the kind of music that encapsulates you into a community of sound, one that becomes familiar once you hear it, like maybe, you’ve been listening to them forever. Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle has shared stages with the likes of Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Town Mountain, Spirit Family Reunion, Special Consensus, Dom Flemons of The Carolina Chocolate Drops and many others. Festivals include: Healing Appalachia, Railbird, Buckle Up, Whispering Beard Folk Festival, Kickin’ It on the Creek, Duck Creek Log Jam, Ohiolina, John Hartford Festival, Taste of Cincinnati and more. Recently, they won Mountain Stage song of the week for their last Mountain Stage performance. 🌟 Artist Spotlight: Rachel Messer Rachel Messer, a singer-songwriter raised up a little holler in Fort Gay, WV, draws her inspiration from the country and bluegrass greats before her. She pens her lyrics with a straightforward “say it how you see it” style, true to her Appalachian roots. With performances all over the United States, her time on Team Blake (Season 15 of NBC’s The Voice), and fans across the world, Rachel has worked hard to spread her voice and love for storytelling. 🌟 Artist Spotlight: Jake Dunn & The Blackbirds Based out of Marietta and Pomeroy, Ohio, Jake Dunn & The Blackbirds bring a powerful brand of original Americana/rock music to the Mid-Ohio Valley. Featuring the emotionally driven songs of lead singer and primary songwriter Jake Dunn, the skilled band completes the arrangements in a way that reminds listeners of many influential musicians, yet altogether the songs stand on their own without ever sounding derivative. Not quite country and not wholly rock and roll, the band takes pride in drawing upon a wide swath of influences to craft their unique brand of music. With Dunn heading up the pack on lead vocals and guitar, the band features the powerful vocal harmonies of Jesse Forrest and Bobby Wheeler, the drummer, and bass player, respectively. Guitarists Chuck McPeek and Dustin Nash provide a distinctly unique and powerful sound to create masterful lead guitar melodies, in part with Jake, that remind listeners of their musical roots. 🌟 Artist Spotlight: SWAMPFOOT SWAMPFOOT - noun… A one-man band from the hills of Appalachia. Perched atop an old rickety suitcase, kickin’ a steady beat like an old, but trusty diesel tractor. Can be seen with a guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica or whatever else he can find. Voice sounds like a dying cat's last breath, but will oftentimes tell the story of backwoods hellfire gospels, tragedies in the hills and redemption. Occasionally can be spotted in the woods, dimly lit honky tonks or at random festivals throughout the hills. A normal SWAMPFOOT show doesn’t only consist of music, but rather a history lesson in each different instrument or tune being presented. It’s important to understand where each originated and the lore behind the folk tales themselves. Listeners may & will be asked to participate in fits of shoutin’ & if brave/drunk enough, a little flatfootin’. Having been fortunate enough to share the same stages as Tyler Childers, Arlo McKinley, Ghost of Paul Revere, Sierra Ferrell & Charles Wesley Godwin,to name a few, performing in front of an enthusiastic audience is never taken for granted! We can't wait to welcome SWAMPFOOT to Fallsburg Summer Stage in May! . . . #ForTheLoveOfFallsburg #fallsburgsummerstage #fallsburg2024 #fallsburgky #localartists #localfestival #musicfestival #localmusic #localevents #outdoorevents #appalachianmusic #appalachia

🌟 Artist Spotlight: Moonlight Mile Moonlight Mile is an Americana band from Sandy Hook, Kentucky, fronted by Jonathan Pennington. The band is poised as a voice for those many impoverished and destitute in rural Appalachia, gripped by the sting of addiction, brow-beaten by fanatical religiosity, and oppressed by fascist regimes. 🌟 Artist Spotlight: Dark Moon Hollow Since the winter of 2017, Dark Moon Hollow has seen numerous members come and go, from notable projects all over the Bluegrass State. Originally forming from improv jams in kitchens, living grooms, etc. late into the Lexington nights, a core was formed and brought to stages in various forms over the next 5 years. In what could be described as a constant evolution of artists, Dark Moon Hollow has had many song writers, with guitarist "Trigger" Trey and mandolinist Riley Logan being the two constant voices on both studio albums. With the help of JD Thomas (Building Rockets, Charlie Woods and Deep Hollow) and Ishi Wooton (Restless Leg String Band, Bloodroots Barter), Dark Moon Hollow brings together a mixture of honky tonk, traditional bluegrass, and both psychadelic and southern rock. The eclectic group can only be described as high energy, no matter the tempo. Noted for powerful harmonies, the goal is to make the best music that speaks not only to themselves but one another and their fanbase as well.
