Deeply Rooted ❤️ I was harvesting chamomile the other day to dehydrate for tea during the winter. The way you pick the flowers is to slide two fingers around the sides and pull up gently. The flower will pop off and in a few weeks you will see the stems flower again creating another great harvest. While capturing the flowers, some of the stems with shallow roots pulled out of the dirt because their roots were not deep, destroying any chance of further growth and another harvest. How is your faith? Is it deeply rooted so you don’t waiver? Can you weather the storms in life that pull at you and try to uproot you? Is your faith shallow and easily pulled away? The best way to root yourself is to study the word of God so that you know what He says and see how throughout history He is faithful to His word. Immerse yourself in scripture and in songs of praise daily and watch your faith grow. Keep praise music on your lips when doubt and fear roar at your ears and try to pull you towards unbelief. Post sticky notes around the house with verses that encourage you and help you in times of fear. Life is a great teacher. When we have experienced the goodness and faithfulness of God in the past, it strengthens us for our future. Trials will come for all of us, and turning to Gods word to endure those trials will deepen our roots so that we reap a full harvest and the next time trials and pain, loss or fear pull at us, we will stand strong and nothing will uproot us because we are firmly planted! ❤️ Colossians 2:7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. I can not image the horror and sorrow Alma and Amulek went through as they were persecuted. Even more so as they saw people of the church, women and children burned to death before their eyes. The question crossed Amulek’s mind, “How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the power of God which is in us, and save them from the flames.” (Alma 14:10) But Alma said they were constrained by the spirit to do so. It is hard to see good people go through horrible things. Sometimes at the hands of others and sometimes just by happenstance. I loved the quote I found from the July 2003 New Era, “The most important thing is to trust God and obey His will. Suffering in this life will eventually come to an end, and God’s perfect mercy, justice, and judgment will resolve all the “why’s” we wonder about now.” We might not understand the “why’s”, but we can have faith and hope in Christ, who is full of love for us!
