Darla meeting a new friend last week called Welly - he’s a cute boy 🥰 Not too much to update as I’m in the UK until Sunday attending some family matters, but Darla was absolutely fab in our schooling session last Thursday before I came over to the UK. We worked a lot on our exercises to make her stronger on the left and focused on keeping her forward and balanced in a proper frame doing our transitions, especially downwards - she managed really well 😇 - She’s just doing some light work with my sister whilst I’m away and I’ll have to crack back on with things as soon as I’m back as we have a few competitions lined up over the next few weekends, hopefully doing some showing, dressage and jumping 🤞🏼

My time in Japan has come to a close and the interior plaster of the #kura (storehouse) has been completed. I spent 2 out of 3 months of my time in Japan in this structure. So. Much. Learning. A little insight into the project- Much of the #basecoat #plaster (arakabe) that had been done in a plaster workshop previous to when I arrived had delaminated from the original #cob and original plaster from 95 years ago, so I started off the project by removing and redoing plaster panels that would have been ready for #browncoat . Much to my dismay, panels kept delaminating that I plastered and work had to be redone in several areas. Between old crumbly cob and spongy plaster that was remaining on the walls from the original build, in conjunction with doing too thick of base coat and brown applications, there was a massive amount of having to “start again” because of delaminating. To boot, the drying process was staggeringly slow due to the cold and moist conditions at the time. Alas, all panels were repaired and I was able to move on to #shikkui #limeplaster Honestly, it takes a bit of a masochist to want to achieve a wall flat with a metal trowel. A few near almost meltdowns later, I’m happy to say I got a bit closer to the mark. But as they say, mada mada des (not yet yet). The biggest thank you to the @permaculture_kamimomi family for all the incredible home grown meals - both in the realm of cooking and cultivating the food, and always having a bath ready! It was such a privilege to be in a space that I could truly dedicate my time to being on the wall- nearly every day. Thank you to @kyleholzhueter for saving me from a few near meltdown close calls and always doing his best to set me up with everything I needed for my projects, supporting my path with awesome projects and opportunities for learning and being a patient teacher. And the biggest thank you to @east.wind.inc and Matheui Peters for making this experience possible. So. Much. Gratitude. - For the support and trust you’ve given me.
