HMS Dragon almost ready for sea trials. I've got the hull sides and lower hull installed. The lower hull panel has the rudders, propellor shafts and supports installed. I'm going to be working on installing all of the upper deck components either during next week or next weekend over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Hello Everone, This is my previously built Airfix 1:350 scale HMS Illustrious, an Invincible class aircraft carrier. This was my first warship build, and this one didn't originally go as planned. During the build process, I attached the hull sides and noticed that they were badly distorted and were not salvageable, which had rendered the kit unusable. I contacted Airfix, and they replaced the entire kit, which is shown here. I have kept the aircraft from the 1st kit and will be adding them to this one at some point in the future. What do you think ?
Morning everyone, This is not my current build of HMS Dragon. This is the 1st Airfix 1:350 Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer I built when the kit was first released. I built it as HMS Daring with all of the possible weapons on it, including the Harpoon missile launchers between the bridge and the Sea Viper Vertical launch system (shown in the last image). This was a fun build, and I've remembered some of the things I had to do for the Dragon build, which I will be continuing when I get some time to keep building it. I do need to actually finish this one with its aircraft as I didn't actually paint or build them before, so I will be doing that when I build the Dragon's 2 helicopters. What do you think ?
The heavy cruiser of the Hellfire class is a special type of cruiser, its basic equipment is comparable to the Slaughter class with additional Doral lances and increased ranges. So a solution between Slaughter and Repulsive. The additional firepower reduces the space left for the engine room. The increased firepower comes at the expense of flexibility, so the Hellfire cannot use lances at Full ahead and at Burns Retro. I also think I remember rules where the ship only had a shield and reduced speed because of this, but I can't find them anywhere anymore. Both the hull and the prows are 100% compatible with all sets of the wide cruiser. To get back into it after the break, something reasonably quick, an update to the hull for the wide cruisers. With the upgrade it will be possible to build the Hellfire Class. A fanmade class that has been requested many times. I've reworked my privateer weapon inserts from scratch during the past days. While it took me a bit more time than planned, I had a ton of fun and made a few extra variants. Working on them gave me some ideas for future ships so it's all good. Morning everyone, This was last night's stopping point on my @officialairfix HMS Dragon build. Beginning to look a lot more shipshape at least on the top. 😂😂 The aft superstructure from the helicopter hanger to the forward radar mast is structurally complete and just needs some paint touch up before i install all of the miscellaneous components. I've got the bridge assembly (and installation) to go along with a few more components before the upper deck is complete apart from the miscellaneous stuff. I had to fit the main radar on the front mast (Sampson ?) to get those panels to fit together correctly. I think I had to do that with my build of the Daring. I will have another update soon.
Hello Everyone, Here is the 2nd update on my @officialairfix HMS Dragon build. Lots of progress in the past 48 hours, mostly painting and then some assembly work yesterday. First up we have the various stages of helicopter hanger assembly, then the bridge assembly began, main radar assembly, display stand completion (painted and 2 decals applied), boarding ramp door covers installed and painted and finallt boat garages completed. I also began assembly of the lower hull components prior to painting but then stopped for a break last night. I've got loads of extra parts painted and ready to install, including the rest of the superstructure. As the weather is not so good here today, I think today might be a painting day rather than a gluing day as I really need to have windows open for that job and can't do that because of how windy it is. So I guess I will have to settle for painting instead 😂😂 If anyone is interested, I am also posting updates on a forum as well, leave me a comment and I'll post the link to the post.

First of all, I wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas, happy holidays or simply a good time. Whatever you do these days. A great year is now drawing to a close. I would therefore like to summarize the past hobby year a little. Many great projects have accompanied me this year. Starting with the completion of my lighted Arc Mechanicus, followed by the start and completion of the Tyranid Fleet. It was also a great start to the new year for the BFG community, because thanks to very good cooperation with many great partners, we succeeded in making the Eldar Starter Kit for BFG available to the public. Shortly afterwards, I started to raise my first pure campaign fleet of Black Templars. In May we had our first exhibition at the KMK Scaleworld, where we successfully represented the BFG community. Certainly one of the big highlights. Shortly afterwards we started working on the BFG Ork Starter Kit, which in my eyes was also a huge highlight with its specially designed ships. And at the same time the final completion of the huge "BFG Starter Kit" project. What a great journey with many great people who all pulled together and realized this project with a lot of motivation. Thank you! In between, there were various smaller projects, including the #solblades, which I personally really enjoyed. Finally, and to round off the year, I finally completed my motorized Black Stone Fortress. This was probably the most strenuous and challenging project in my "career". This also brings me to the next highlight of the year, my own series of articles in the really great Warp Rift magazine. Many small but also very large projects have adorned this hobby year and I am very happy that you were all part of it. Another year full of great chats with incredibly lovely people who just love the hobby, were happy about my projects, but also proudly presented their great projects to me. Battlefleet Vorlich is joined by the mysterious Inquisition Black Ship - Harbinger of Solace. The Harbinger of Solace is sporting one of the 8 prow types that will be part of tomorrow's release. Its been a lot of work getting these new Battlefleet Gothic alternate designs done, but it's been very good for my mental health. There's just something about designing something that doesn't have a set design that helps clear the mind.
