I’ve not been able to flip grip without pain ever since I’ve shoulder impingement last year. Situation is getting better and better now. I’m able to flip without much issue provided I’ve my shoulders warmed up properly. Also, I can really touch my foot to my crown of my head this time on my good side, but only slightly touched on my not so good side. Day 9️⃣ of #TwistFantasist with @cyogalife ➡️ #Yogidandasana variant ➡️ alternative #EkaPadaRajakapotasana or #HighPigeon variation by @shiremaclo Slide1-4: actually I’m quite confuse here, not sure how much I need to lean towards my yogidanda side or should I stay upright. At the end, I decided to stay upright, twist and lean towards the yogidanda. While keeping upright and twist, I’m able to get my other hip lower down to the floor before leaning. Slide5-8: I’ve also attempting Shire’s alternative. I love hip openers too and often sneak in few whenever I practice. I was having Bibi with me today, he even came near me when I was trying to lift up my leg and my hand on knee flew off. Day 2️⃣ of #FlexEffect with @cyogalife ➡️ #EkaPadaRajakapotasanaII variant I started of with foot on the wall, I was glad that I can have my fingertips on the floor which I couldn’t do it previously (slide5-8) Slide 1-4: I then tried in middle of the room but my shin was glued on the floor, refused to lift a single inch😅🤦‍♀️🫣 so I get my shin pointed up first then only arch gradually getting my head towards my foot. Is wobbly but not as bad as I thought. It is too much stretch on my hip flexor that prevent me from sinking more and I loss balance immediately if arching to much, so look up to ceiling is max currently while still keeping in the pose. I did the same with hands and leg on the wall this time too, my calf cramped when I tried to get my foot close to the head. On my not so good side, I couldn’t do it in Jul as I hurt my thumb knuckle and with block when we did the same pose in Aug. this time I still stick on block as I couldn’t revolve as much. Only placing fingers is not that stable for me. Even though using block, I felt twisting/shifting gaze not as tough as before. After few attempts I didn’t to wear non slip socks, as it just kept slipping down 😬 Squaring hips do not seem an issue and more on directing my foot pointing while keep foot on thigh. The more I sink my chest, my foot barely hold onto my knee. I get closer to the wall, hips over the knees but I couldn’t walk my hands down as much as in Feb. Slide 1-2: concentrate to lift chest, lengthen ribcage and keep pushing hips forward in this closer to wall setting. Slide 3-4: I did the wheel support version last time, so repeat the same in closer setting. I’m happy that I can walk down to similar distance. Slide 1-4: I put a folded mat under my butt, I grounded much better and less stress on my knee. I can arch better, elbows hugging in and hold few breaths here. Slide 5-8: without extra mat and felt I’ve to engage inner thighs more to stay upright and to balance while arching back. ⭕️⭕️ Wednesday Wheel Party ⭕️⭕️ This week the birthday girl Gabrielle @gabrielle_edwards_yoga introduced symmetrical with wheel in @wheelpose. She named it as @WheelyWheel. Do visit her page for her beautiful wheel and the video. I like to use wheel to roll on my spine and I dare not do it like Gabrielle, dropping back, so rolling over the wheel is my entry. I did the @vipartadandasana with wheel too, I’m glad that my heels are holding onto the wheel, that’s the closest I’ve achieved so far even though it is not symmetrical. Thanks Carmen, Shire @shiremaclo and Garry for the wonderful month’s of challenges and modifications. Slide 1-2: I was using wheel against the wall which cannot be seen here to keep my body upright. This round I was flipping grip on both sides at the same time as compared to my previous habit, one at the time. Each method has it owns pros and cons. I tried so hard to keep my elbows hugging in and pointed upwards but my left shoulder didn’t like the crossing X I made at the end. Slide 3-6: I warm up with these approach arranging blocks in different ways. The double layered support me the most in this case. Slide 7-10: I’m in general weak on my back muscles, wouldn’t want to miss practicing this modification from Garry. To get a right position of head on wheel is a challenge, it is not easy to sink chest and arch in this version. Slide 5-6: attempting the same with #forearm version, #forearmscorpion. #ChinScorpion compilation. The first time I so-called on chin scorpion was playing with gym ball then followed on the same month Carmen’s challenge. I was still using gym ball to support me with lifting to chin scorpion. I have to put it to medium height and kicked numerous time to this pose in Jan22, my chin was sore back then. I was pleased to be able to do it with low blocks today even though my feet are still far away and my chest is still not completely sunk. Today I could kick up pretty easily even with lowest block setting. The feeling of tripping over is pretty strong when I engaged strong on my glutes and thighs to bring my legs toward and closer to my head. My glutes are on 🔥🔥 Slide 3-4: alternative with Shire. I did the first time in Aug21 with Carmen’s month #unblockyourpotential but with legs extended. This version is very much doable without the legs extended. I can barely send on my better side without extending much on my leg fully (slide 1-2). It is not as lucky on my not so good side, I hardly lifted and couldn’t really move my leg back after (slide 3-4). I attempted the 2nd video of Carmen first as warm up. I have never been able to pass my head over from humble warrior and I’m surprised that I could do it this time. My tripod hands are completely out of alignment and in order to lift the free leg, I have to first heel toe heel toe to get nearer, bending leg to chest before extending. I’m prepared to have the same difficulty as I didn’t practice this since then. I felt less pain on the top of my feet and better support when lifting up. I can repeat many times this time, I kept falling on my elbows when I tried to lift higher. Slide 1-2: I only managed to control not falling on my elbows in 2 attempts only. I have to lift up to the limit that I can still control. Slide 3: my so many attempts to lift higher up but ended with falling on elbows 😂💪🥵 Slide 4-5: my own unwinding on my feet. If I push myself too much in front, I toppled to the front. Only managed to hold for tiny seconds but couldn’t lift my legs up to my butt. Last video on me practicing carrying weights on flip hands using 2 blocks on feet and forehead at first then 1 block on forehead before removing totally for the pose. Only when I wrap better my leg to arm can my back leg lifted up. I lifted with bend leg at 90deg then slowly extended before lowering down. Day 1️⃣4️⃣ of #CommitToSplits with @cyogalife ➡️ #EkaPadaRajakapotasanaIV The squaring hips to lift both hands to foot and arch back is real challenge to me. I loss of balance easily when I arch back. Slide 1-4: in the middle of the room. Flipping grip here became secondary while I was fighting the balance. I wasn’t able to complete the pose in my last attempt, it turned out a surprise to me this time. Slide 5-8: I did this as warm up before doing it in the middle of the room. Getting down to split in lunges make the balancing better, yay, I found my foot when crawling down from the strap 😂 Slide 9: comparison with last attempt in Feb22. I did this during the backbend challenge in early Feb and wasn’t able to arch at all. The whole month of backbend practice did amazingly. Day 2️⃣4️⃣ of #HandstandJournal with @cyogalife ➡️ #PuppyPress into #Handstand or #AdhoMukhaVrksasana Again, can’t go with my close friend now, wheel. I need a block under my feet to elevate to press up and a little hop if without the block. I still couldn’t engage my core, my hip flexors and my shoulders to lift my hips up, but already considered a big step for me as I have never been able to do that before. Slide 1-4: press up/down with one leg tuck to butt and another straight leg. Slide 5-8: straddle press with block but I thought the press with bend leg lifted up is easier but attempted with straight leg as per Carmen.
