三島喜美代展📰未来への記憶 練馬区立美術館に三島喜美代展を観に行ってきました。 三島喜美代は新聞やチラシなどの印刷物を陶を用いて立体化する作品で知られる作家ですが1960年代にはこのような印刷物をコラージュした油彩画が多く見られました。 今回の展覧会は油彩の具象画や抽象画など初期の作品も紹介されていて良かったです。 馬券や出走表で構成されたコラージュはのちにゴミや廃棄物に取り組んだ制作につながっているのかなぁ…と思いました。 立体編は次回へ #三島喜美代 #未来への記憶 #練馬区立美術館 #美術館巡り #中村橋 #mishimakimiyo #nerimaartmuseum #collage #art

🇫🇷&🇺🇸 : « Yes, my art is garbage ». Mishima Kimiyo (née en 1932) décrit en ces termes sa pratique artistique singulière, par laquelle elle cherche à incarner les horreurs des centres urbains et leur quantité d’ordures. C’est au début des années 1970 qu’elle commence à interpeller, non sans un féroce humour, l’omniprésence de ces déchets. Une liasse de papiers laissée au sol dans son atelier lui donne l’idée de reproduire celle-ci dans un matériau fragile, plus précisément la céramique. Elle développe alors une maîtrise certaine de la technique de la sérigraphie, lui permettant d’appliquer des textes et des images sur de l’argile. Une œuvre en grès émaillé sans titre, réalisée en 2007, reproduit avec une grande exactitude un carton de bières Asahi Super Dry écrasé, couvert de textes anglais et japonais et rempli de journaux froissés, pour bonne part lisibles. Des fissures accidentelles consécutives à la cuisson au four, visibles là où les extrémités du carton se soulèvent, ainsi que des entailles intentionnelles, font apparaître la nature fragile du matériau de sculpture ainsi que l’impermanence du carton et du papier destinés à contenir la bière. L’abondance et la méticulosité du texte interrogent par ailleurs sur la prolifération d’informations qui caractérise les objets du quotidien. Was fortunate enough to just hear an amazing lecture presented by Janice Katz, curator of the new exhibit Radical Clay at the @artinstitutechi and Jeffrey Horvitz, along with his very knowledgeable wife Carol, the collection’s owners. It’s the largest collection of ceramic work owned outside of Japan and the show highlights some of the most innovative and creative WOMEN ARTISTS making work in Japan now. It truly is an incredible show and definitely worth checking out. Some of the brilliant artists whose work is on display are Yamaguchi Mío, Mishima Kimiyo, Kishi Eiko, Howono Hitomi, Tanaka Yu @yutanaka89 and many more. Thirty in total. Carol and Jeffrey Horvitz were kind enough to walk through the exhibit after the lecture to answer questions. It was incredibly informative and inspiring! Sometimes people feel that modern art is trash, it sometimes can be 🤪! This pile of trash modern art is created by Japanese artist Mishima Kimiyo (三島喜美代). Although it is trash, it highlights the waste that is thrown away by people; and it also highlights the many creative packaging designs that are just tossed into the bin every day. Great message reminding people to pay attention to their trash, which in turn reminds them of what they are consuming every day. I saw this pile of trash art at The Queenland Gallery of Modern Art in Brsibane, Australia. And btw all the trash in the bins are super realistic ceramic creations by Mishima Kimiyo. EN - Throughout Kimiyo Mishima’s artistic career she has been producing assemblages with a wide range of different ‘garbage-themed’ and recycled materials that vary amazingly in size and style. Knowing that ceramic would break if it were dropped, her radical concept in the work presented is to startle the viewer by making an assemblage of smooth tan “used” paper bags but out of clay. Fragile and easily broken, not light weight and burnable – confronted with this contradictory artwork, what actually is our reality? Frieze Seoul. 미시마 키미요의 작품. 세라믹을 이용한 디테일이 일품이다. 이전에 일본여행에 갔다가 적지 않은 연세에 세련되고 디테일한 작품활동을 하신다는 것을 알게 되고 팬이 되었는데, 서울에서 만나뵙게 되어 반가웠다. 구매를 위해 금액을 여쭤보고, 관련하여 자세한 이야기를 나누었는데, 엔화의 약세로 상당히 합리적인 가격에 구매가 가능할 것 같다는 이야기를 해 주셨다. 상당히 긍정적인 이야기를 나눴다. 이런 것도 전시회의 또 하나의 재미요소인 것 같다. #friezeartfair #coex #mishimakimiyo #friezeseoul
