I am having a truly wonderful time at #icass and #arcticcongress in beautiful Bรฅdรฅddjo (in Norweigan Bodรธ). I am grateful to the #Sami People and beautiful #Sรกpmi for the welcome. I hope to continue learning from Sami Peoples about the ways they life with the land during my Arctic #Fulbright. #Arcticfulbright A huge thank you to the hosting university as well, Nord University and Grete K Hovelsrud. I have seen so many #Arctic friends from over the years, including many from the #arcticfrost network that I became a part of in 2014. I am grateful for the many mentors here as well who have been an important part of my journey over the last 14+ years. I was honored today to be in the plenary panel today, speaking alongside Arctic women. There was strong #Indigenous leadership on the panel speaking strong truths of #selfdetermination, #landrights, #climateimpacts, and more. I shared some of the #Indigenousknowledge I have been learning throughout my life since childhood, growing up with #reindeer, #subsistence, and #intergenerational learning. #Kinship, #kincentric views of the world, and Indigenous approaches to #sustainability are key to the future for all. A world based on #extraction and seeing the natural world as a #resource instead of as many kin focuses on short term gains over long term 7 generations forward and #sevengenerations back thinking. Indigenous Knowledges and Peoples absolutely must be at the head of the table, bringing #millennia of #science knowledges from time immemorial to the forefront. #environment #justice #ecology #kincentricecology I also try to feature Indigenous work whenever I can as the economy in the Arctic for us is often tied to cultural expression. @inkstitcher Sarah Whalen Lunn is a fantastic Inupiaq artist.

Relationships based in healing the wounds of our Western European colonizer lineage so we may cocreate the cultural values of accountability, collective liberation, somatic abolitionism, and embracing the universal pulse of queerness with beauty, humility, hope, and love. So grateful to these beloveds who came together this weekend to prepare the land for a new cycle of reciprocity as we danced, sang, shared meals together, and witnessed each otherโs wholeness under the open arms of Grandmother Cherry. Some cocreative highlights: Artistically designed cages to grow the veggies for the bone broth and baked goods Iโll be selling at the farmers market. Bishops weed barricades to slow the spread of this European plant that has spread into an aggressive colonizer across the land. So many lessons for releasing from the grips of colonialism. Conjured our first mulch harvest after 7 years of curating. Skinny dipping in Yonder Pond. DJ dance party off the deck, barefoot in the grass, around a fire. Continuous care for the soil, water, and air that give us life and creating the space and capacity to receive and offer Mama Earthโs abundance and medicine. Given we humans seem to be fixated on forgetting that we are one, I accepted this comment as an answer to a question around the concept of "us." So, when I saw this post on #kinkeeping I understood that the difference, the degrees, are a matter of how open one's #heart is willing and able to be. Both kinship and kinkeeping are categorized as nouns. I can agree that kinship, in the context of those degrees or not, is a noun. A static, bounded state. You've seen this beautiful face here before, and not because she's been in foster care. This beautiful girl is Amiyah. She's been a frequent visitor in our home as her grandparents navigated the wild worrisome world of kinship, then legal guardianship. For 3 years, we have fiercely and faithfully loved and protected Amiyah and her grandparents, who are some of our most precious friends. For 3+ years, Amiyah has slowly and steadily been healing from the hard life she came from with traumas we don't even fully know about or understand. But this month, the Hamilton County court told our little lady that she deserved permanency and freedom from worry. Her grandparents adopted her last week in what was both a heartbreaking and heart healing hearing. At the end of the day, a little friend asked her what it meant to be adopted and her very quick answer was, "Adoption means that I always get to sleep in my bed, and my tummy will always have food, and no one can ever make me leave Nana and G-Pop ever again." While we acknowledge the depths of loss that come with adoption. ๐ ultra-violet glow ๐ A look I created a few days ago. Hope you like it! I started with a tinted moisturizer in a shade slightly darker to warm up the complexion, then added a halo of bronzer to create a glowing effect on the skin. I added lots of light violet eyeshadow blown out from the inner corner, then deeper shades of purple in the crease. While I was working, @norahs_makeup popped in my head with a 60s cut crease they did a few days ago. So the eye is both 60s and 80s inspired. A small wing and mascara finished off the eye. I also elongated the brow for added flair. Then I picked my brightest neon lip, to compliment the two shades of cream blush (one translucent down first, then a more opaque cream for a punch of color). Some cream highlighter on the high points and faux freckles to complete the look. Oh, thereโs also some silver liner by @urbandecaycosmetics in the waterline!
