Circe by Madeline Miller - 5/5⭐️ This book had been on my shelf a while before I finally got around to reading it this week - and I can’t believe I put it off for so long!!! I loved reading about all the different myths/stories that Circe was involved in and her relationships with the different characters As someone who had read the Odyssey, it was so interesting to see the Odysseus-Circe interactions from Circe’s point of view instead Anyone who’s a fan of Greek mythology - you absolutely need to pick up this book #circe #circemadelinemiller #madelinemiller #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks #book #booklover #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookreader #bookreviewer #bookrecommendation

QOTD: What is your favorite retelling you’ve read? Galatea by Madeline Miller At only 56 pages (including the author’s note) you wouldn’t think this story would be very remarkable but it is! I’m a sucker for anything Madeline Miller writes and Galatea helped fill the hole that was left in my heart by The Song of Achilles and Circe. Galatea’s story was beautifully done and so impactful. I wish I could say more but don’t want to spoil anything for those that don’t know the myth! I also need to give a special shout out to the amazing author’s note. Truthfully, I never read those but I did this time and I really don’t regret it. It gave even more insight to the story and was perfectly done. This is the kind of story you don’t need a lot of Greek mythology knowledge and it’s a great way to try out Madeline Miller’s writing if you haven’t read any of her books before. #galatea #thesongofachilles #circe #greekmythologybooks #retellings #shortstory #bookreview

REVIEW 🐍 Stone Blind by Natalie Haynes is like reading a Taylor Swift production: it breaks your heart, keeps your eyes searching for more and embodies the empowerment of female rage 🐍 😍 I already loved Natalie Haynes and her style of writing. This book as been on my TBR since I first saw it was coming out so I was excited to have a full 2 days to dedicate to solely devouring this book. 📚 The storytelling is like sitting on the floor of your elementary school library and having your favorite librarian tell you the most animated and detailed story, except now you need two carpet squares because you’re an adult and this book is not made for children. ✨ This book had me gasping, yelling, crying and awwing. The book tells multiple points of view so well that you truly feel like you’re watching a cinematic masterpiece come alive off the pages. 🐍 This book is not for the faint of heart. It’s Greek mythology after all and we all know Zeus is a predator. If you’re triggered by SA then maybe have a few sessions with your therapist before or after the book. There were several times I set it down after a scene and had to take some deep breaths. I wanted to jump into the book and give the women a bear hug full of understanding and empathy. 👉 Should you read this book? YES. It’s empowering, eye-opening and just fantastic storytelling. The book ends too soon and will leave you screaming for 500 more pages. Taylor Swift lyric for this book: “Even statues crumble if they’re made to wait” 🗡️🐍 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookreview #booklover #fantasybooks #fantasybookstagram #fantasybooklover #greekmythology #greekmyths #medusa #greekmythologybooks

*Hey Siri, play “Too Sweet” by Hozier.* I finished the Hades X Persephone series this month, and I’m already missing my whiskey-drinking God of the Underworld. But dare I say that I miss my sunshine boy, Hermes, even more. 🌞🥃📚💌 Read this series if you like: - Greek mythology - Enemies-to-lovers - Fated mates - Found family - Grumpy/sunshine dynamics - And I cannot stress this enough, SPICE. 🌶️ This was my first Hades and Persephone retelling, and while it is long and I could have done with less spice, would I recommend it? Absolutely. I had a lot of fun getting swept away in New Greece and the Underworld, and I miss the characters keeping me company. Plus, all titles except “A Touch of Chaos” are included in KU and Audible Plus! 🖤 Is this series on your TBR? Have you read any other Greek mythology books? If so, what is your favorite?

“She’s certain that nothing will happen. That she can relinquish her weary fidelity and the world will still have its goddess of wives, carved in wood and stone and ivory, set down in scrawled ink, trapped in song and verse forever.” . Pushed to the wayside, Hera is most famous for being forgotten by Zeus. We know her story less than we know how she doesn’t fit into Zeus’. Like many others, I’m guilty of only knowing her as an angry wife (who can blame her). I loved discovering her story through Jennifer Saint’s writing. . I really liked how, unlike other Greek myth retellings, this didn’t focus on one key myth. We got a whole overview of the Greek God pantheon, from them overthrowing the Titans to falling out of worship in more modern days. I found it really interesting when the myths that usually get whole stories on their own were just mentioned in a paragraph or so, and I thought it was a really effective way of showing the different impact these events had on humans versus gods. . This book gave the opportunity to not only see the whole pantheon, with Gods, mortals and quests, but we also saw monsters. I didn’t know that Hera fit into their story before this, so I loved learning about that. . Jennifer Saint’s writing style is beautiful, lyrical and easy to understand. It can’t be easy to fit hundreds of godly years into a 400 page book, but Saint still manages to accessibly do so here. . Although I don’t think this book tried to excuse all the things Hera did to punish Zeus’ infidelity, it gives us the chance to understand her actions more. A lot of her anger stems from when Zeus tricked her, raped her, then promised her the world – but didn’t actually give her the latter. It’s easy to understand her frustration too as she watches Cronos’ other children get given the skies and the sea and the underworld, and Zeus’ illegitimate children also get given realms, when she has to beg for anything. . TLDR – Zeus is a dick and deserves everything coming to him (it’s just a shame Hera punishes him by punishing the people around him) . . . . #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #bookish #bookworm #booklover #book #bookreviews #bookreview #mythtakereads #greekmythologybooks

REVIEW [ad-pr] . Hera By @jennifer.saint.author . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . Okay. So I love Greek retellings and so far I’ve loved Jennifer Saint bringing back stories of different women from these myths and telling THEIR story. But Hera…? All I can say that is if I loved the others, I love, loved Hera!! . When I used to think of Hera, I thought of her as scornful, mean, a jealous wife… but this book has made me think again. Hera was one of the original Gods of Olympus. She was strong, powerful and beautiful in her own right. A God to be feared but also loved and yet she seems to just sit in the shadow of her husband (who was also her brother), Zeus. . Saint has made me fall in love with Hera and think about her in a completely different light. She’s also made me think again about Zeus as I had a bit of a ‘Boooooo’ moment whilst reading. . If you love Greek Mythology then Saint is the champion at retellings. If you’ve loved her previous books, you’ll love love this!! And if you’ve never read her books then Hera is a perfect place to start!! . Five ⭐️ is not enough for this book!! Thank you @jennifer.saint.author 😘 . A big thank you to @randomthingstours for having me on this blog tour and to @headlinebooks for my #gifted copy. I’m going to tag some of my fellow bloggers in the comments so why not check out their reviews too? . . . #hera #jennifersaint #jennifersaintauthor #bookreview #bookrecommendations #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks #greekretelling #mythology #heraandzeus #beautifulbooks #hardbackbooks #justread

✨Medea✨ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ I really really really enjoyed this book. If you know me or have been here a while you’ll know that I absolutely love a Greek myth retelling, I mean I wrote my whole dissertation about them! But at the end of last year I got a bit fatigued with them and kind of fell out of love. However, Medea totally made me fall headfirst back in love with them and made me realise, all over again, why this one of my favourite genres at the moment. I already knew the loose elements of Medea’s story, but I think you could 100% come into this book not knowing a thing and absolutely enjoy every element. Hewlett’s writing just guides you along the story beautifully and creates such vivid moments and characters. Also it was so lovely to revisit Circe (one of my favourite women from Greek mythology) 🫶

REVIEW: HERA 👑🦚🏛️ 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Is women crush Wednesday still a thing? If so then today’s WCW goes to Hera, the queen of the gods! She was the goddess of marriage, family, childbirth, and women. Hera was also the wife, and sister, of Zeus. A lot of the myths involving Hera centre around her jealous retributions against Zeus’ infidelity and the way Jennifer Saint’s retelling moves the narrative along does this very well. As well as being Hera’s story and her perspective, we get to meet a whole cast of Greek gods and goddesses, getting a taster of all the well known myths from Jason and the argonauts to Heracles (Hercules) who kills the hydra to the Trojan war… This is a great read for anyone who is new to Greek mythology as it maps all the great Greek myths that many flow from the actions of Hera in response to Zeus’s actions. Even I didn’t know how many stories connected with Hera and found this to be fascinating! I would have liked to have more of a deep dive in some of the myths but it would make this book a very long one if it did so! Hera’s jealousy is obviously clear in this book but it’s for good reason given Zeus’ antics and we get to see how powerful she is in changing the fates of mortals and immortals alike. We also see her compassion and her kindness towards others. I found the relationships with Hydra, her son Typhon and to her grandchildren to be really touching. Anyone who loves greek mythology and Jennifer Saint’s books will be happy with this next retelling! Let me know if you’ll be reading this one 🫶 Ad pr copy: @caitlinraynor @headlinebooks #bookreview #greekmythretelling #jennifersaint #mythretelling #feministretelling #greekmythologybooks #fantasybookstagram

life lately 🌊⛅️💐🌅📖 — May is most definitely the craziest month of the year for me so it hasn’t been the best in terms of hitting my reading goals, but sometimes it pays to have these periods where I actually pull my head out from between the pages and realize there’s poetry & love & magic all around me in the real world too😌 (before happily returning to my fav fictional worlds, obviously) — what are some of the best books everyone else has read this month?!?! I need to add some to my spring / summer TBR. my current obsession is once again the Starcrossed series by @josephine_angelini - I just started Scions and am quite literally obsessed⚡️🪽

I was very excited to receive HERA in the mail, another stunning cover and I can’t wait to dive in and share my review. Thank you so much @hachetteaus I am stoked to be adding this to my Jennifer Saint book collection. Hera is known as Queen of the Olympus Gods. If you are a fan of Greek Mythology as I am or even if not you need to add this one to your collection! ⁉️What Goddess would you like to be for the day? ♡Happy Publication Day 💫🥂 🏛𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐀 𝐛𝐲 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 @jennifer.saint.author ✨About the book (Not my review) The beguiling story of the Queen of Mount Olympus, told by Jennifer Saint, the bestselling author of ATALANTA, ELEKTRA and ARIADNE. The enthralling tale of a powerful Greek goddess maligned in both myth and ancient history, as told by Sunday Times bestselling author Jennifer Saint. When Hera, immortal goddess and daughter of the ancient Titan Cronus, helps her brother Zeus to overthrow their tyrannical father, she dreams of ruling at his side.

As they establish their reign on Mount Olympus, Hera suspects that Zeus might be just as ruthless and cruel as the father they betrayed. She was always born to rule, but must she lose herself in perpetuating this cycle of violence and cruelty? Or can she find a way to forge a better world? Often portrayed as the jealous wife or the wicked stepmother, this retelling captures the many sides of Hera, vengeful when she needs to be but also compassionate and most importantly, an all-powerful queen to the gods. ✨Book Fifty Two✨ I *love* Greek mythology books - I could read them all day everyday, but this? This was not it. It claims to be female centered, however the only way it is, is by each chapter being named after a female character. The chapters didn’t focus on the characters they were named after either which kind of made that a bit pointless. Nor were the characters mentioned in the chapters linked to the character the chapter was named after. Feel like the author missed a trick there. The stories felt a bit all over the place as one would stop half way through a chapter and then be picked up again several chapters later. The way they were told was a bit bland too, it felt like reading a text book instead of novel. There was little personality & I found it very boring to read through. The artwork included was lovely, but I found it interesting that the author used a male artist. Surely if you’re promoting female empowerment & how badass women are, you’d of used a female artist, no? But anyway.. I was so disappointed with this, I probably should have DNF’d it but I was hoping it would get better as it went on. Spoiler - it didn’t. I’m not saying don’t read this book as just because it wasn’t for me, doesn’t mean it’s not for you. It just wasn’t for me at all. ⭐️⭐️/5 𝑅𝑒𝒶𝒹𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓃𝑔𝑒𝓈 • #rwdc2024 ~ a cover in your favourite colour 🏷️: #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks #mythology #readingchallenge #mythologybooks #readingchallenges #whativeread #booklover #bookwormsofinsta #igbookworms #igbooklovers #foreverreading #bookpics #bookphotos #thesongofachilles #circe #nataliehaynes #stoneblind #madelinemiller #bookishshelf

Some of these I've seen online while some I haven't. We're nearing the end of May and I am currently in my Greek myth era. This genre will never bore me and I'm happy as long as these books keep coming out. Song of Achilles 🌟 - The story of Achilles, the 'best of the Greeks' and Patroclus, this book made me cry, get angry and frustrated in the best way possible Circe 🏺- The story of the daughter of Helios, she's at the epicenter of so many famed Greek myths and not to mention scary powerful Clytemnestra ⚜️- Known to be a vicious queen but this story delves into her background - why she did what she did. It's so well written it made me weep(that I could never write so well) Atalanta 🦌- My current read- She was the only woman in the Argonauts aka a bunch of people who set out on an extremely difficult quest for glory- It's so well written I can't 🥲 #greekmythology #circe #songofachilles #madelinemiller #madelinemillercirce #madelinemillerthesongofachilles #greekmythologybooks #clytemnestra #atalanta #bookreader #bookrecommendations #bookstagramcommunity #books #bookstagrammer #booklife📚 #bookobsessed #booklover #bookreader #booklove #booksthatmademecry #indianbookreaders #read #readersgonnaread #readersofinstagram #currentread #readinglife

what was the first book you reviewed on your bookstagram? for me, it was this one. and i'm so glad it was because it was such a good read. it took me on a rollercoaster of emotions and actually started my habit of annotating because there were just so many good quotes. for example: • "i am made of memories." • "i would untie him if i could. if he would let me." • "i remembered the long days i grieved for him, my hands empty and idle, plucking the air like birds peck at dry earth." • "will you help me put the rest of my armour on?" • "does it matter? i would not stop." ah, the trauma. this book made my heart ache SO badly. i must say, though, i believe circe was better. unpopular opinion, i know. p.s: yes, i chose these pictures for a reason – the little peck and then looking into the distance by himself in the third slide? that’s tsoa in a nutshell, reenacted by my cats. lots of love, katherina

THE DREAD QUEEN’S BARGAIN by @thebibliophileblonde 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 So I tried to fit my review but instagram doesn’t allow lots of words to be written here, so please swipe to read my review of this wonderful, perfect, playful little novella! 🥰 Overall what I’m going to say is if you haven’t read The Asphodel series yet… what are you waiting for?! 🤩 I highly recommend this entire series of standalone novels, each one is just as good as the next, the characters are fleshed out very well, the romance is FIRE, and the writing is dynamic and keeps you on your toes. If you like Greek mythology & romance, you’ll surely love this series. This novella about Persephone and Hades was especially wonderful and I enjoyed every moment!!

*ARC REVIEW* *Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc copy in exchange for an honest review.* !Read trigger warnings before reading this! ‼️Sexual assault ‼️Abuse ‼️Toxic relationships ‼️Child abandonment ‼️Death of a child This was so so good. I haven't read a ton of Greek Mythology and I've been trying to change that because it's so interesting to me. I didn't know anything about Hades and Persephone's story or anything at all about Demeter so I was excited to see that this is who the story focused on. Most of the stuff I've read has tried to glorify the male gods so I loved the fact that this gave a voice to the female gods. This book shows Demeter's heartbreaking story and how the love of her child got her through it only to have her child ripped away from her. Demeter would have torn the world apart looking for her daughter, and that intense of a mother's love is so beautiful. The author did a phenomenal job writing this. The writing style was beautiful and fit so well with the theme of Greek Mythology. It felt timeless. She gave the characters so many layers and conveyed their emotions and traumas so well. I was so connected to each character. 🌸 Grief representation 🖤 Misunderstood "villain" 🌸 Greek mythology retelling 🖤 Heavy topics 🌸 Emotionally charged and powerful My only "complaint" is I do wish that I got to see more of Persephone and Hades together purely because I didn't know their story and how they came to be so I really enjoyed their story. This was a new to me author and I am so glad to have discovered them. I will be reading more of their work. #arc #arcreview #arcbook #arcbookreview #arcreviewer #book #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookstagram #bookish #newrelease #upcomingrelease #newpublication #newbookreview #daughtersofolympus #hannahlynn #mythology #Greek #myth #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks #mythologybooks #books #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #booksofinstagram #booksgosocial

Diving straight into a pivotal moment of Hera’s immortal life we are thrown in with the beauty of Saint’s writing. A vengeful, spiteful and remorseless Goddess, Wife of Zeus. Demonised and vilified throughout history. I admit to knowing little more than this. Then Saint comes along and shines a light on Hera. Giving her back her voice to tell her tale of trials and dangers. Without ever condoning her actions, Saint gives Hera the space to explain her behaviour. A tale of reaction to injustice after injustice piled upon her. From antagonist to punchy protagonist. It was great to visit various of the other Gods through her POV, and I really enjoyed learning more about the lesser known Gods too. Drawing a family tree really helped me and I found that this novel has helped connect the myths more fluidly for me, as I forever get tangled with the names (anyone else??). 😅 I thought her relationships with the other goddesses, were so interesting. I wanted to learn more of them. The way Saint portrayed through Hera, how the monsters held beauty, whilst the true monsters were the Olympians themselves, was poignantly thought-provoking. I loved learning about Ekhidna! I do wish we got to know more about Hera ‘before Zeus’, to really connect with her and understand her. There was so much to unpack, it could have been a duology. But, a duology just means more time in Saints mesmerising writing! I can’t wait to see who she writes about next! If you’re a fan of myth retellings, don’t miss this! If you’re new to myth - I highly recommend this one to start, it’s such a great way to learn of the characters! A huge thank you to @caitlinraynor and @headlinebooks for my early copy!

Yesterday I finished Divine Might by Natalie Haynes, (I’ll post a review soon!) and I thought it would be fun to keep track of how the stories about these goddesses reminded me of certain books. And it was so much fun! So I present to you: What would the Greek goddesses read? I hope you enjoy this! And let me know which goddess’s reading list speaks to you the most! List of paintings depicted: Slide 1: La Fortune by Ernst Friederich von Liphart Slide 2: Apollo and the nine muses on Mount Parnassus by Pierre-Paul Prud’hon Slide 3: Jupiter and Juni on Mount Ida by Charles-Antoine Coypel Slide 4: Diana the Huntress by Orazio Gentileschi Slide 5: The birth of Venus by Sandro Boticelli Slide 6: Ceres begging for Jupiter’s thunderbolt by Antoine-François Callet Slide 7: Portrait of a woman as a Vestal Virgin by Angelica Kaufmann Slide 8: Pallas Athene by Rembrandt Slide 9: Arestes pursued by the Furies by William-Adolphe Bouguereau

Book Review: 📖 Circe by Madeline Miller 🤎 "I was not surprised by the portrait of myself: the proud witch undone before the hero's sword, kneeling and begging for mercy. Humbling women seems to me a chief pastime of poets. As if there can be no story unless we crawl and weep." I really enjoyed the story of Circe in this Greek mythology retelling. I love this trend of taking age-old stories but spinning them to focus on the female heroines who have traditionally been the lesser-known and discussed side characters within the formidable male hero journey. We follow Circe as she grows from a curious and lonely child, who is basically cast out by her own family and ignored for being unique. She is not powerful, like her father or a beautiful temptress like her mother. The loneliness in this book hits hard. Circe has a very sad story, and once she is banished, I love her connection to the island Aiaia and her creatures, but her loneliness is still poignant throughout her story. Her desperation for connection or understanding comes through and is clear in each tragic interaction she has. Circe's story is told quickly as it spans throughout centuries, but due to the slow nature of life in banishment, it feels like a slow burn. As someone who isn't super familiar with Greek mythology I had a bit of a difficult time with all of the names and connections at first but I found as I read it became easier to make those connections. An excellent immersive read.

Mother. Murderer. Magnificent. I purchased this book on a whim. I had been craving Greek Mythology and then this caught my eye on amazon. So i hurriedly ordered and couldn't wait to devour it. But i realized i had completely forgotten about Clytemnestra and Agamemnon so i revisited my fav podcast 'Lets talk about myths baby' and well, i had to go through all the episodes of House of Atreus, Tantalus and Agamemnon. And THAT was when it hit me, I'm gonna be in dark waters. Just re-listening to the episodes put me in a dark corner and i got weirdly eager to see how the writer had taken that story and what the outcome of its twisting would be. I was blindly excited because of the writers comparison with Madeline Miller but when i started reading the book it took me atleast thirty pages to get into it and force myself. Then it slowly started getting better. Ngl the characters are painted very differently than i would've imagined. Especially our queen, Clytmnestra. It's a fun read, I'm hundred pages in and can't wait to see how she murders that pathetic piece of garbage named Agamemnon 🔥✨ Also Helen's character has my eyes, the way she's written, it's sort of enchanting. The way you know a storm is coming but you can't quite keep your eyes off of it. So can't wait to see her bring the storm either. P.S : college sucks, even more so in summers. Literally spend my classes reading this and sleeping ✨💕 But there's new Namjoonie, Kyungsoo and Junmyeon music so I'm HAPPPPYYYY 🤎 __ #greekmythology #clytmnestra #kpop #bts #exo #btsrm #namjoon #kyungsoo #suho #exosuho #kimjunmyeon

The Children of Jocasta by Natalie Haynes. Think you know the story of Oedipus? Think again! Here we have Jocasta’s and her daughter’s point of view of the shocking and gruesome tale. And in fact, this book is more about emotional journeys, about things that happen between palace walls and in bedrooms, not about grand mythical tales. The writing and characters make you forget the bigger framework- you just want to know how the women end up. I liked the exploration of the city state mentality, the way the book explores how power corrupts, and the descriptions of Ancient Greek girlhood. Another great read from @nataliehaynesauthor - wholeheartedly recommend her books for fans of Madeline Miller and lovers of all thinks Greek mythology! #thechildrenofjocasta #nataliehaynes #nataliehaynesauthor #nataliehaynesbooks #jocasta #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks #oedipus #greekmythologyretelling #feministgreekmythology #bookreview #bookrecommendation #bookreviews #bookrecommendations #booksta #booklover #justfinishedreading

Released today “Hera” by Jennifer Saint. Picked up my copy on Saturday at my favourite little Independent bookstore “the bound” in Whitley Bay. I’ve always been fascinated with Hera. She was the wife of Zeus, the Queen of Olympus, and the Olympian goddess of marriage. As such, she is also the deity most associated with family and the welfare of women and children. Her marriage, however, was an unhappy one, since Zeus had numerous affairs. Hera made sure to give each of his consorts a hard time. While Hera is often seen as a jealous and vengeful wife, I see her character as more complex than this one-dimensional portrayal suggests. It is important to recognise that she was a powerful and independent goddess in her own right, ruling over marriage, family, and women’s welfare. Her anger towards Zeus’s infidelities was not solely fueled by jealousy but was also a reaction to his betrayal and the destabilisation of their sacred union. @jennifer.saint.author has never failed to impress me with her knowledge of Mythology, I have adored each of her feminist mythological retellings so this I’m sure will be no exception. Can’t wait to read it. I will post a review as soon as l have finished it. . . #hera #jennifersaint #greekmythology #mythologylove #mythologylover #greekmythologybooks #greekgods #greekgoddess #greekretelling #feministretelling #newrelease #herajennifersaint

My haul from the Amazon book sale ❤📚😁 I know a lot of people were disappointed, but I clearly found quite a few deals I was happy with 🤣 How did you feel about the sale? Did you pick up any books you're super excited about? The office is my ultimate comfort show! I rewatch the whole series like 5x/year minimum and I've listened to every episode of the Office Ladies Podcast. I think it goes without saying that I NEEDED the Office BFF's book because I can't get enough! Couldn't resist picking it up while it was on sale. I'm so excited to now own all of Taylor Jenkins Reid's books! I've read half and will have to ration the other half because TJR is one of my favorite authors 🖤 I already own all the Shatter Me series up to what's pictured, but I havent read any of them yet 😳 I obviously have faith that I'm going to love it 😅 hopefully that works out. ✨Hera Review✨ This book is my new favourite Greek Mythology book, I absolutely adored it. I read a lot of Mythology retellings and a lot of them follow the same characters over and over again but Hera was such a refreshing change, I’ve never read a book from her perspective and this one was done just so beautifully. Historically Hera hasn’t been my favourite Goddess but I came out of this book loving her, the story telling and the writing in this book is just so beautiful, and part five was amazing, I don’t normally get emotional while reading but this book did make me shed a few tears 😂 Have you picked this one up yet? 🏛️🗡️ #hera #jennifersaint #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks #mythologybooks #mythologybookreview #bookreview #greekbooks #ariadne #electra #atalanta

… currently reading ₊˚⊹♡ I was walking through B&N last week and FINALLY decided to pick this one up. Mostly because I saw a few people make connections between Circe and ‘The Prophecy’ from #TTPD and that is my favorite song on the entire album. I don’t read a lot of Greek mythology, mostly because I have always found it intimidating. In some of the Greek mythology books I have read in the past there are so many characters and you need to know some background knowledge going into it.. and I do not 🙈 I will say tho, I’m about 120 pages in and I am finding this easy to follow! I know this book has amazing reviews so I cannot wait to see where it goes! Do you like reading Greek mythology based books? If so, what ones do you recommend?? 🤍 🏷️ - #circe #madelinemillercirce #madelinemiller #bookstagram #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks #songofachilles #booksbooksbooks #reader #bookaesthetic #bookphotography #currentlyreading #currentreads

Hera by Jennifer Saint releases this week and I'm sharing my review of this 👑 a little early. What an absolute twisty chaotic mess they are up on Olympus. Wholly enjoyed this one! Thank you @headlinebooks (Wildfire) Are there any mythology characters you love reading about? Review AD-PR 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀: Rise and fall Patriarchy meets matriarchy Competitiveness What a screwed up bunch the Olympians were…hedonistic, egotistical and all about power. Hera led this tale with empowerment that rose from within herself, I had to admire so much about her characterisation. And yet, she was cold, lacking in feelings towards those you’d expect and she was fiercely competitive with Zeus. A lot of this tale was about Hera’s plotting and her long term strategy to rise above Zeus. I cannot say she had integrity because she didn’t. I found the tales of her progeny and her disconnect from them somewhat shocking. Through Hera’s eyes, there really wasn’t one god or goddess I could really say I liked but their scheming made for gripping reading. I really loved the last quarter of this book. The demise of the Olympians was exciting and messy; the final paragraphs of this book were superb. I read this and also listened on audio in parts. The narration was great and channelled the cold calculation of Hera. 4⭐

🏹 Book Review 🏹 This book is definitely intriguing. It starts off with action and it leaves you on that high throughout the book to the end. The concept of familiars and hunters, in a post now world is interesting and the world building is simple and doesn't take up a large chunk of the book. This was a smooth read plot wise and easily followed. There is mystery, flirty banter as well as insults, jealousy from both FMC and both possible love interests. I am in love with Ace and I am hoping in book two we get more into the mystery that is him and his reasons, because I so need to know. The Artemis inspiration is there and I love it. 🏹 4 More Days 🏹 An Artemis inspired fantasy romance by @j.c.mckenzie that contains: 🏹found family 🏹family secrets 🏹slow burn romance 🏹enemies to lovers 🏹hidden magic 🏹mystery 🏹hunter becomes hunted https://books2read.com/cotimarked/ https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0C6HD92JS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6HD92JS #fantasyromance #fantasyromancebooks #postapocalyptic #dystopianromancebooks #dystopianromance #postapocalypticromance #jcmckenzie #romantasy #greekmythology #greekmythologybooks

The books 👇 🔥 Prometheus' Priestess is about refinding your hope after life throws its worst at you. 💔 A Lifetime Kind of Love is for the woman who keeps abadoning herself in relationships, and how to come to peace with putting yourself first. 🐍Madonna:Medusa's retelling is about undoing the victim stories and generational trauma that has been passed down to too many women. 🍳 The Urban Underworld is about following your dreams and finding your family. Which, ironically and literally, sums up the past 4 years of my life. #greekmythologybooks #cozyfantasybooks #bookstagram #gwynethlesley

“ Circe” by @madeline.e.miller Circe ❤️ 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “When I was born, the word for what I was did not exist”- Circe In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe has neither the look nor the voice of divinity, and is scorned, ridiculed and rejected by her kin. Increasingly isolated, she turns to mortals for companionship, leading her to discover a power that her siblings also process, that is frowned upon by the gods: witchcraft. When her love of Glaucus drives Circe to cast a dark spell, wrathful Zeus banishes her to the remote island of Aiaia. There she learns to harness her occult craft, drawing strength from nature. But she will not always be alone; many are destined to pass through Circe’s place of exile, entwining their fates with hers. The messenger god, Hermes. The craftsman, Daedalus. A ship bearing a golden fleece. And Odysseus, on his epic voyage home. There is danger for a solitary woman in this world, and Circe’s independence draws the wrath of men and gods alike. However, Circe is a strong Witch and knows how to take care of herself. This book was as powerful for me as Song of Achilles, which I read at the end of 2023 and still think of often. (Read SOA first). It did not disappoint. It has a very different tone of other books. The prose is very poetic. I did a tandem read/listen with the physical book & audible and it was enthralling. The narrators’ voice and accent gripped me. I felt like Circe was speaking to me and to me alone. Whispering her story in my ear. I love Greek mythology. Madeline Miller writes so beautifully that you just get swept away in her tale. I know the story but it was like hearing it for the first time. I will be thinking of this book for years to come. “But in a solitary life, there are rare moments when another soul dips near yours, as stars once a year brush the earth. Such a constellation was he to me”- Circe Your thoughts? #circe #madelinemiller #songofachilles #circefanart #booktok #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #bookcommunity #booklover #fantastybooks #greekmythologybooks #popularbooks #bibliophile #bookrecommendations #romantasy #bookhaul

🌊 BOOK REVIEW 🌊 I picked Circe after reading The song of Achilles because I loved it so much and wanted to read more about the Greek mythology especially by this author. 🌊 Since I hardly had any idea about the Greek mythology apart from what I read in the song of Achilles, everything was new and interesting to me. It was an experience reading about the gods, titans, olympians, nymphs, witches, etc. 🌊 Circe is also one of them - a half goddess and a half nymph who grows up to be a super powerful witch, but she realises her true potential later on in her life. Before that she was a nobody in the house of her father - Helios the sun god. Everyone else is more powerful, cunning, and attractive than her. She was bullied and ignored by her family members and in that desperation and loneliness she turns a human into a god, and her sister into a monster and because of her actions she was exiled in an island called Aiaia and that’s how she came to be known as ‘the witch of Aiaia.’ 🌊 Circe is not your fame and power hungry goddess. She doesn’t want anyone to fall at her feet, worship her, be scared of her which was really refreshing for me after reading the song of Achilles where everyone was fighting for their egos and fame. 🌊 The character development of Circe was amazing. Overall, this was a really nice read for me!! I am definitely picking other books by this author. 5/5 for me!!
