They have gone by Lorenzo Vitali This work stems from my personal desire to explore the emotional-affective relationship that has long linked me to the landscape of Eastern Veneto, more specifically that of the lower Piave, characterized, among other things, by the presence of a particular type of architecture, that of the so-called farmhouses, which form a fundamental and integral part. Their presence, to an attentive observer, does not go unnoticed, as long as you choose to travel along the provincial roads at low speed or, better still, when you enter the secondary road network. Exploring the Mind: It’s all in your head by Nina Song Katz Merging documentary-like and conceptual styles, the series ‘It’s all in your head’ provides a unique perspective and imaginative exploration of a mental space. Based on my own experience with mental illness, I wanted to explore the idea of capturing a mental space and how it manifests both physically and in one’s mind. I decided the best way to illustrate this was to split the series into two styles of photos. The first half of the series are documentary style photos. These were taken during a time in my life when I was struggling with my mental health. They are a candid portrayal of ways in which where we are mentally can manifest physically. The second half of the series are the conceptual style photos. These photos represent the parts of mental states/illness that cannot be seen by an outsider. This part of the series, and particularly the conceptual style, illustrates how one’s mental state can make the world around them feel surreal and distort their sense of self. The end of the series portrays the healing process and learning to sit with the ups and downs of one’s mental state. It shows that people are more than mental states/illnesses. Grief, A Photographic Journey by Sofia Dalamagka This project started just before loss took place. Just before the final derailment and the total breakdown. It was the preparation of the inevitable. Like a cloud getting ready to rain. And when it started to rain it was then, that I let the pictures pour out of me. In these pictures, there is no linear narration, only fragmented approaches and frayed visions. It is mourning and its 5 stages. Each photo is about a stage that I experience unconsciously and that I struggle to recognize each time. Mourning does not ask you. Dreamland; Tale of the blue pear by Nikolina Petolas Series “Tale of the Blue Pear” started in 2014, but it’s origins date started a long time ago, in Nikolina’s childhood and lasts to this day. The series present a search for our own essence, which is embodied in the shape of a pear, in different color and sizes, which can be found in the majority of her artworks. It presents a quest for something ‘magical’, which is often missed in the everyday reality, but it also shows us symbolic relationships and situations which are encountered through life. In these worlds anything is possible and the ones who enters them can be all they imagine, as long as they enter them with a pure heart. Glacial Silt Patterns by Hal Gage Over eons, glaciers travel from mountain tops in their slow, unrelenting march to the seas. Grinding rock to powder and carving valleys in their wake, they create the landscapes we see today. These “rivers of ice” scoured rock and soil from valley walls carrying that debris in its icy grip. At the terminus moraine all these elements commingle, suspended in the melt waters of the receding glacier. There is beauty here, but these intrinsic abstract forms are indirect evidence of the global ramifications of this alarming trend. Their swirls and sinews change by the millisecond. Patterns in the flowing mud and silt are the vanishing fingerprint of a glacier. Spirit of the north by Alexandre De Melas I started photography when I started travelling and I fell in love with wildlife photography. It is to me the most difficult but rewarding type of photography. I love looking for angles and backgrounds to give an unusual view of the animal. Then the animal has to offer the perfect look or the perfect posture. I discovered this pack of Arctic wolves in a wildlife park in my home region in the north of France. The Sainte Croix park is a giant park protecting a lot of European and endangered spieces. Some of the animals are even totally free. They are adapted to cold temperatures as low as -57 degrees celcius and their fur can weight up to 1 kilogram in winter. Their nickname is “the elk’s doctor”because they hunt mostly the weaker elks. They can stay years at the same place and they don’t fear humans. A pack of wolves is very dynamic and social so the photographic possibilities are numerous. I love how photogenic and charismatic they are. When I realized how lucky I am to approach such inspiring creatures I had the idea of an artistic series showing their grace and how mystic they look. Shadows of silence by Basim Ghomorlou I depict the aesthetics of nature in black and white to deliver certain universal feelings. Feelings that a photograph in color washes out. Feelings that every human is able to translate from visual poetry to an introspective understanding of the world that surrounds us: roaring silence, violent calmness, wild meditation. What we see is raw, pure and sensual. It is filled with sadness, fright, and delight. Universal reflections that resonate with every human being on earth. Watching the silent shadows of the desert make you see yourself for what you are. To this day, it is 10 years that I regularly travel in the Iranian desert. It was an experienced nature adventurer who first suggested that I should go in the desert. Together with a friend, we set off, looking for a new nature experience. Back then, it was not photography that pulled me into this adventure but rather the desert itself: this spectacle of nature.
