Ooh.. I had fun with this one. I went in without knowing too much. I avoided all reviews as people on Facebook were already pretty explicit. I knew there was some body horror in it, but nothing more Of course, I knew Kristen Stewart is one of the leads, and its director is Rose Glass. I love Glass' s Saint Maud from 2019. That ending made me laugh so hard. Thank God her black humor returns in Love Lies Bleeding. Kristin is someone whose acting I disliked, but she has made so much progress, and her choices for movies are just awesome. But let's not forget her lover in this story: Katy O'Brian. I have probably seen her once or twice before, but her she is just great. And it has been a while since I saw Jena Malone on the big screen. This is, unfortunately, a minor role, but it was nice to see her again. Love Lies Bleeding is one of those movies I am grateful for for showing up in theaters. El mundo del cine, como toda empresa, tiene sus altibajos y sus nubarrones y claro ejemplo de estos bajones es el remake que hicieron del clásico ochentero #nochedemiedo algo que nadie había pedido y que no se necesitaba, aunque dicen que la versión 3D está bastante bien, yo no la vi así y todo esto bajo mi punto de vista, que quede claro esto. Nos encontramos con una adaptación moderna de esta cinta juvenil de vampiros, que tiene un guion un tanto predecible y sencillo, que no digo que sea malo, simplemente te va llevando por el camino que quiere el director, algo dentro de lo correcto, hasta desembocar en una última media hora llena de energía, sangre y colmillos. Con toques de humor y ligeros sustos, a mi parecer, le sigue faltando ese toque gamberrete de la antigua, las actuaciones que nos encontramos son bastante normales, con un #colinfarrell vampiresco y atrevido, un #antonyelchin con el que no se empatiza mucho y un #davidtennant con un personaje bastante gracioso e ingenioso en la interpretación del mismo (el que más me gustó a mí). Review 21 Jump Street 2012 Blu-ray Rating: 4.5/5 21 Jump Street is a throwback to the teen comedy genre with a biting sense of humour and incredible pacing that rarely slows down for a second. The tv adaptations haven’t been entirely successful critically or commercially, and most have failed to impress. This adaptation is a smart comedy that uses genre troupes to an almost self aware level while engaging its audience with winks to current social commentary. Filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller found success with their debut film, and instead of following that up with another animated venture they pivoted to this live action feature and the results speak for themselves. The choice to be respectful of the source material by switching the genre to comedy instead of Police procedural, and it opened the door to interesting possibilities. When this first film was announced I wasn’t expecting much from these actors and directors, but fortunately I was completely incorrect with my reservations. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum would feel incorrect in theory but their chemistry and comedic timing is excellent. Lord and Miller are able to maintain the energy throughout and they’re able to lean into the buddy action genre. There’s a surprising amount of character development and the directors can play with the conventional structure of these films by making this characters aware. It’s a strong addition to the comedy genre and its connection to the tv series never feels like it’s abandoning it by making mean spirited jokes.
