Just in today, is this unusual and very stylish 19th century mirror. Retaining the original gilt surface and with the London makers label to the reverse, the mirror has a carved crown sitting on a cushion. This type of crown would have been worn by a Duke, pointing to the likely hood that it would have originally been commissioned by a senior member (Duke) of the British aristocracy during the 19th century, and with the distinctive rope twist moulding, perhaps one with a strong Naval connection or senior rank. Just in: A super quality satin birch chest of drawers in the manner of Holland & Sons, c.1860 Beautifully proportioned, lively figuring to the timber with fine cut dovetails, panel back and mahogany lined drawers. 108.5cm high x 106cm wide x 53cm deep Completely original, untouched condition. A few very minor and isolated losses to the veneers, bone dry finish. The top is slightly faded in places, (see second image) however a lick of wax will deepen the colour if required. A truly magnificent Flemish tapestry depicting colourful scenes of nature and wildlife and dates all the way back to the 1750s. Measuring at approximately 230 x 230 cm this handmade piece is absolutely wonderful. Each square yard would have taken the gentleman making it one month, that’s a lot of work and a lot of man hours to produce something that still looks so beautiful today.
