He collaborated with young car mechanics and electromechanics in training at a local school (Athénée Royal de la Rive Gauche, Laeken) to collectively design the transformation of the hearse. Eugenio López Alonso, the visionary behind Museo Jumex and currently at the helm of Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo, embarked on his art-collecting journey in the mid-1990s. His expansive collection boasts over 3,000 modern and contemporary pieces, featuring renowned artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Ed Ruscha, Cy Twombly, Ellsworth Kelly, and Gabriel Orozco. Thousands of works from López’s collection are displayed across his homes in the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood of Mexico City, a modernist three-level concrete structure built in the 1970s renovated by Luis Bustamante and his 7,500-square-foot midcentury home in Beverly Hills, designed by architect Wayne McAllister in 1957. A celebration for CINEMA FOR ALL at Ban Mae Ma School brought together everyone from near and far to watch films, join a parade and feast together. A project that took many villages, across time and space - for me, a project that has been years in the making, we just didn’t realise it till we were together in front of the giant double screen. 12 years ago, Apichatpong, Tilda, Josh and I were together for another festival down south. We were joined by so many friends and loved ones who were also present this last weekend including @artolindsay (whose parade was epic) and to be united within the Biennale with the vision of @tiravanija_team_cm @jeab_project304 and the community-led approach of @artistrunbkk and @airmanuair. Cinema is a dream and we dream it into existence. As Tilda said, it’s not only for all, it is also OURS. We make it, we present it, we take it to the people. Last week we set up a double screen on the field to present rare archival films curated by Josh Siegel from The Snake King (1972, Cambodia) to Pages of Madness (Japan, 1923) and Fall of the House of Usher (France, 1922) as well as Mae Nak (2020) by Pimipika Towira and a special tear from the Thai Film Archive with the heart-warming Saming Ban Rai as well as Tales from the North. All the whilst the Cinema For All Pavilion continued through the night as well as Apichatpong’s Biennale-commissioned works. We welcomed everyone for a night under the stars and to a feast. Thank you to @thisisdew for being the best Programme Producer. Thank you for everyone who made this possible @aeypannatorn and your awesome team, @kitipatra and @supernormal_studio for double screen perfection. The @thailand_biennale for having us. Looking forward for the 15th November at Fondazione Querini Stampalia a collaboration with the School for Ciratorial Studies Venice. • “Conservare il Futuro” published book (March 2023) that bears witness to 25 years of curating contemporary art in the same place: the Fondazione Querini Stampalia. 25 years: a lengthy period in which the curator Chiara Bertola has seen the metamorphoses and rebirth of this ancient palace thanks to the different visions of the artists projected in its spaces, who have each transformed it into multiple places. “Conserving the Future” is a program and a work method.
