Abdominals ⛏️ 🧱 Often a very sought after aspect with people getting lean, guys and girls wanting their abs to be visible A huge part that is often neglected is actually training the abdominal muscles. “Abs are made in the kitchen” is a common phase used and whilst body fat levels are typically dictated mostly by diet / expenditure the abs themselves if left untrained are left shallow, making it harder for them to be visible. Now, you don’t need an entire ab circuit multiple times a week that lasts an hour, instead I recommend hitting them 2-4 times a week, with some key exercises and proper form; Hanging leg raises Cable Crunches Oblique twists Plank Personally I will perform the first two and tag on the other 2 if time permits but leg raises and crunches are your go-to movements. What the last 4 weeks have taught me — It’s been 4 weeks since I stopped tracking! Tracking macros, steps, weight, output, stripped it all back and stopped everything! — Before taking such drastic measures, I noticed that every day I got up and looked at myself in the mirror…. I would think how much I loved my look and feel really confident and happy! I’d then step on the scales, see a fluctuation and all of a sudden hate my look. My attitude and mood would decline and I would feel body dysmorphia. This would then result in reactive measures, less food, guilt cardio, extra output and all the anxiety that came with it! This cycle repeated it self daily whilst my self esteem plummeted and anxiety went through the roof. — I was sick and tired of feeling this way, and noticed the pattern of being really triggered by the scales. — THE PLAN -> STOP WEIGHING - easier said than done right?!… but it was time to stop my trigger. I moved the scales behind the bathroom door, keeping them out of sight and additionally out of mind. I kept reminding myself how shit they made me feel and vowed to not use them anymore. I immediately saw a positive reaction to mood and wish I had done it sooner. Update and appreciation post. Most will know, I keep myself to myself on here. I don't take pics of myself nor videos, some weird self confidence thing... but put me on stage and I'll come alive. It's odd and hard to understand, even for myself. Anyway. Last stepped on stage in May 2022, time away to grow and yesterday stepped back on and I couldn't have loved it any more 💜 from the start of prep to now, I love it. The process, the grind, the challenge of pushing myself... endless. Yesterday was @2brospro_events @10xathleticusa first Scotland show. Granted a long way from home but it was the only regional that worked for me for the proqualifier requirements. Only one in my height class, automatic 1st place and into the overall. You can't control who does turn up or doesn't. A win is a win 🤷🏼♀️ no overall win but we came for the regional qualifier. 3 weeks, it's go time again with @body_by_babs 🔥 Straight back to work and meal plan after the show, no post show treats when there's a lot more to do. Time to get shredded! 😈 Very happy with what we bought, but I KNOW we can do better and boy will I do what I need to bring it! Thanks for yesterday; @get_bronzed Laura and the team, you're incredible and it's always a pleasure to catch up and be looked after 💜 @_makeupbylisa you're AMAZING and the make up was beautiful! Super proud of client @shelbydoverx today. First ever time onstage today and won her class 🥇 and was deemed good enough to receive her pro card in bikini wellness 🏆💪🏼 She also jumped into a great open bikini class and took 3rd. She posed fantastic and was one of the most muscled onstage but today her look was more suited towards wellness. For a completely natural athlete to have achieved what Shelby did today in the timeframe she has is absolutely insane, a testament to her hard work and dedication. I’ve been there. SWIPE ⏭️ One of the most important factors I feel when it comes to coaching is empathy. Understanding my guys and girls and knowing the challenges they face, to the best of my ability. As a teenager and into my early 20’s I was overweight and sedentary (full time gamer💻) and very self conscious. When I found fitness / bodybuilding and got myself into a better place physically and mentally I was fearful of returning to being fat. I have also battled with feeling skinny / small and eager to gain muscle with the added caveat of not getting fat. Stage Shots Are In! What an amazing day at the Mr JT Grand Prix 2Bros Pro Regional Qualifier, making my return to the stage after 7 years out from competing in Mens Physique. I decided to embark on this 15 week prep and compete again as a way of giving myself a clear physique based goal to really test myself and see what I was capable of or even if I was still capable of getting into show condition again as for anyone that's done it knows this is one of the hardest sports on the planet as none other demands you to physically train to your limits in a nutrionally and sleep deprived state. In any other sport you fuel yourself for proformance and remain well rested in order to be able to recover from what's asked of you from your sport. My goal entering this competition so to bring my best physique to stage to date and really that should always be the goal of any physique competitor as that is all that is within our control in this subjective sport. It's safe to say in the weeks leading up to the show I knew I would be stepping onto stage at my very best to date but it was more than I could have hoped for to take 1st place in my group and have a chance to compete in the shows overall stage. The plan now moving forwards is to set new goals to aim for and put the plans in place to achieve them by taking a good 8-12 months to focus on an off-season in order to gain enough muscle to be competitive in the overall stages of the next show.
