SHORT READS THAT PACK A PUNCH (CLASSICS)
I'm usually partial to longer books (more time to build an intricate plot and develop complex characters), but when I do step out of my preference bubble and pick up a novella, I've found a number of gems.
- Siddhartha by Herman Hesse: 122 pages (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)
- The Family Reunion by TS Eliot (Play): 131 pages (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
- The Crucible by Arthur Miller: 149 pages (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, this one holds a special place for me)
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka: 70 pages (⭐⭐⭐, wasn't my taste but that purely boils down to preference; it's absolutely worth your read)
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald: 148 pages (⭐⭐⭐1/2)
- The Time Machine by HG Wells: 91 pages (⭐⭐⭐⭐, a high rating for someone who doesn't generally enjoy sci-fi)
- Animal Farm by George Orwell: 120 pages (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, a favourite of mine)
- The Pearl by John Steinbeck: 118 pages (⭐⭐⭐⭐, it might be 5 stars if I weren't comparing it to Steinbeck's other works)
