Oops! Been quiet on the socials again ... but it's only because we've been busy in real life 😀 - an exhibition, website (still pending), and a steady flow of new stock. We've got loads to list and work on, including #ercol and #arnehovmandolsen chairs, #beaverandtapley display units and a #gplan Brandon bookcase. First, though, take a look at this beautiful one, which dropped only yesterday: 6ft of mid-century magic! It had a long journey up from the south coast, after being spotted in the wild (and kindly stored by) @fiju_86 - thanks Nic :). A Nathan Circles sideboard from the early 60s, it's a classic of its kind. This one's the first we've had in the shop, and we can see why it's so popular - it's really very well made, with tonnes of storage space to boot. It's looking great, with just a bit of work needed to the top. The gorgeous grain is already showing up nicely, and once it's stripped, we'll give it a coat of #gilboys hard wax oil to seal and protect. This Victorian bolero jacket is one of my oldest finds, unearthed in Skythrop in Leeds in the late 70s. I wish I could say I treated it with care and respect but I used to wear it with a swishy purple skirt - that I’ve also still got somewhere - and how it escaped serious damage I’ll never know. These days I daren't even try it on for fear of splitting a seam (I can’t believe I ever fitted into it!) and it spends its days laid flat in a drawer. It may look austere but it’s quite ornate: satin fabric with embroidery on the sleeves and netting – also embroidered - at the front. Through the netting you can see the striped lining although it’s discoloured now with age. #victorianfashion #vintageleeds
Lovely drop-leaf table from Wrighton in fab original condition. One owner from new, who obviously kept it well! Comes with a set of four chairs, as you can see in some of the pics, but Emiel's currently working on reupholstering these in an olive green velvet, which shows up really nicely against the wood. A Monday shout-out to our Stonehill buffet/sideboard! It's quite an unusual, early 1960s model, reminiscent of early E Gomme with its ebonised legs and bottom drawers. At 85H x 124W x 45D, it's pretty compact but great for storage, with a shelved compartment on the left, a larger cupboard space in the middle, and a cutlery drawer to the right. In the lower section, the centre drawer has a slide-out tray, perfect for serving up a cocktail! The lower central drawer pull was missing when it came to us, as can be seen in some of the pics, but we've sourced a little mid-century bakelite pull that's just the right size and blends in nicely with the black background. Stay glam in the depths of winter with this super warm and cosy mixed animal print faux fur coat. A 1980s faux fur coat from German label Jolipel by Niedieck, often found in European vintage shops. The shape is like a 60’s swing coat, with plenty of room for layers underneath. Fasteners with a hook and eye, with two deep pockets at the front. There is a small defect, the middle fastening needs a small repair to reattach. Otherwise in excellent vintage condition, with no damage to the internal lining or the coat itself. Hard to believe this was a charity shop find, who would give something this good away? A reworked vintage Levi’s denim jacket dyed purple, potentially by @blue.rinse.vintage but there’s no label to confirm that. The leather Levi’s label is worn at the back, but the red tag on the front is visible along with the stamped silver buttons - which confirms it’s a genuine branded item. The jacket has some minors signs of wear, some fraying on the denim, but this just adds to its worn vintage appeal. Otherwise perfect condition with decades of wear left. Will fit up to 39” chest/size 14 but best when oversized by a 8, 10 or 12.
