In times of change, we must adapt quickly, time keeps ticking and we must roll with the punches. Lamborghini has done this just so. For their new car, which will be called the Temerario, they will put in a hybrid V8 engine which will produce over 900 HP. As we are sad to see the naturally aspirated V10 go, this V8 will rev all the way up to 10,000 RPM, screaming with all its might begging for a shift into the next gear. Also, this engine will reportedly use an interesting technology, it will be naturally aspirated up until 7,000 RPM and then the turbos will kick in up until redline. What does that mean? We still get a screaming engine most of the time we drive the car and it won’t be as much of a muted sound as we think, something definitely exciting is coming from Lamborghini’s toybox. We don’t yet know the name of the Lamborghini Huracán’s successor, but details about its plug-in-hybrid powertrain have emerged. The current model’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 engine will be replaced with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 paired with three electric motors. This upcoming model, internally referred to as the Lamborghini 634, features a new flat-plane-crank V-8 engine designed from scratch to surpass the V-10 in performance. Although Lamborghini has not disclosed complete technical specifications, it has provided some intriguing information. The new 4.0-liter engine boasts a redline of 10,000 rpm, significantly higher than the Huracán’s 5.2-liter engine, which topped out at 8500 rpm. The new V-8 generates 739 horsepower between 9000 and 9750 rpm and 538 pound-feet of torque between 4000 and 7000 rpm, outperforming the Huracán’s engine, which produced up to 631 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque. Over the course of a week in the fall of 2016, I covered over 3,000 miles in this treasure of a vehicle from San Diego to Portland via the pacific coast, then back south through the Sierras, taking in two national parks along the way. Even putting in 1,001 miles in a single day was pure joy, as the duality of this car and its magnetic ride adaptive suspension lends itself to long highway cruises as much as carving up mountain switchbacks, and is as adept in the dry as it is on snow-covered tarmac. Aparecendo pela primeira vez em 1991 no salão de toqui, o antecessor do R8 surgiu em um conceito que utilizava um motor W12 e se chamava "Audi Avus Quattro" e tinha um chassi todo em alumínio. Aproximadamente 10 anos depois, o grupo VW anunciou o "Audi Rosemeyer Supersportwagen" que possuia 700 cv e um motor W16 (isso mesmo) mas que acabou mais pra frente acabou se tornando o Bugatti Veyron, afinal a marca Bugatti também pertence ao grupo VW. 2003 a Audi anuncia o "Audi le mans quattro" no salão de Frankfurt e contava com um motor central traseiro V12 e um design em um corpo coupê de 2 lugares bem semelhante ao Audi R8. Em 2006 surge o tão famigerado Audi R8 com um design bem semelhante ao modelo apresentado anteriormente e com duas motorizações, uma V8 e uma V12 e dividia a mesma plataforma da Lamborghini Gallardo. Em 2024 foi anunciado o encerramento da produção desse incrível carro que agora provavelmente contará com motores elétricos ao invés dos V10 roncadores e belos.
