Coconut Crema @vaultcitybrewing 🏴 14.5% Pastry Stout ——— A rare Vault City stout for #stoutsunday with their affogato-inspired creation. It’s one of those adjunct heavy stouts that does exactly what it says on the tin. Coconut, vanilla, tonka and coffee are the adjuncts used and all four of them come through in equal amounts. Obviously a very sweet one. Chocolate and vanilla in particular contribute to that. The tonka addition is fantastic. Coffee too for its flavour and much needed bitter roasty notes. Coconut the star of the show. At 14.5% it’s a boozy bastard but it works well and with it being a 330ml can it doesn’t feel too much. It’s full bodied, very creamy, smooth. Yep, pretty much as advertised. Given that @saltairetaproom was one of the inspirations behind this project, it's a bit silly that I've not been since I started it, especially since it's a mere 15 minutes away. I took the chance to visit on a sunny Friday afternoon, taking my laptop and getting a bit of the book that I'm writing done. Ordinarily on such a day I'd have opted to sit outside where there are plenty of picnic tables both in and out of the shade. This time however I sat in my 'usual' place - in the corner with a full view of all the comings and goings. And it was nice and busy that afternoon - hence, I didn't get a good picture of the exceedingly well-appointed bar which at any given time has a whole host of cask and keg beers, both from @saltairebrewery and other guest breweries. Service is always with a smile, and with a laid back vibe - friendliness permeates here. I opted for a lovely handpulled pint of a hazy pale called Long Live The Chief (despite the staff recommendation of having it from the keg) and then had a quick half of the American Pale Zephyr. I also raided the takeout shelves for a further selection of beers for the weekend (at a better-than-supermarket price). To me, this is a perfect taproom and one I'll frequent for as long as I'm in this area (most likely my whole life). Coconut Cacao (Double Coconut Chocolate Imperial Stout) (14.5%) from @vaultcitybrewing Aromas of chocolate and coconut; silky smooth mouthfeel; very boozy and although the coconut tasted a little synthetic, the chocolate and the beer overall was delicious. Untappd rating: 4.5/5.0

🌿 NZ Pils 🌿 @burningskybeer 🌿 4.6% Pilsner brewer with New Zealand hops. Well it certainly is Pilsner weather at the moment and this is just about the perfect Pilsner for me. It’s clean, it’s crisp and it’s super drinkable, but it also has those bitter citrus flavours from the hops that just give it an edge over the more traditional examples of the style. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Burning Sky 🍺

It is always good to have a nice hiking beer accompanying you when on a hiking trip. It was not a long trip but we spent the afternoon in Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire. It is such a beautiful place and you have a great view when you hike up the small cliff. The beer is from @fullcirclebrew. Looper is an IPA with a medium body and refreshing taste. Just the right thing when hiking. A pleasant fruity taste is followed by great grassy notes and a good bitterness.
