Still deciding what to do in Austin for 4th of July? My favorite yearly tradition is renting a kayak from zilkerparkboats to watch the fireworks from the water. Highly recommend doing it at least once if you can! For today’s episode, I spent an afternoon at the gorgeous southcongresshotel pool overlooking South Congress (Thanks so much to the hotel for hosting me so I could share my experience). You can grab a pool day pass or rent a private cabana (these are new!) every day from 10am – 5pm. Here’s the price breakdown: Pool Passes: Monday-Thursday, 10am-5pm for $40 per person Friday-Sunday, 10am-5pm for $75 per person Pool Cabanas: Monday-Thursday, 10am-5pm for $300 Friday-Sunday, 10am-5pm for $400 (Cabana rentals include pool passes for up to 4 guests) Parking in their self-park lot is included in these prices, and the cabana rental also comes with either a bottle of champagne or a bucket of high noons 👀 I picked the champs. McKinney Falls is GORGEOUS this time of year! Just make sure to bring plenty of water if you plan on exploring (AD) I brought a few cans of my favorite, richardsrainwater. Richard’s catches rainwater before it hits the ground so that it’s extra clean; then they purify it so that it’s even cleaner. I love that the aluminum cans are lightweight and recyclable. They also make a sparkling version in a glass bottle. "What an amazing stay!! Maybe my favorite ever. So special and unique- Amber’s place was the perfect base for exploring Big Bend. Located right at the entrance to the park and only 10 min to the main restaurants in Terlingua. We loved how private it felt. Exposing one of my favorite thrift stores in Austin today 😳 All proceeds from austinpetsalivethrift go to support homeless pets at the austinpetsalive shelters. They have 3 locations: Oltorf, Burnet, and 51st (which is my personal fave, and the location shown in the video). Prices are reasonable- lower than Goodwill, actually- and the selection can be hit or miss, but I always find at least one thing. I didn’t know how much I needed to experience cat yoga until purrfectocatlounge invited me to one of their classes. Purrfecto, aka Austin’s only cat cafe, fosters cats from 2 Texas-based rescues, and all of them are available for adoption. They only offer classes like these every once in awhile, so follow them to stay up to date! The cats were soooo funny- they kept running around playing with each other and trying to snuggle with us.
