I was going to braid my hair today.. However, after my protein deep conditioner yesterday it’s a no no. My scalp is irritated and needs to be treated.. So for now my Afro is here to stay for a bit longer 👌🏾 I’m clearly lacking in vitamins.. definitely vitamin D and Iron..I have also been asked to not blow dry my hair.. 2023 Acrylic on canvas board 30cm x 40cm This portrait was done for an Instagram challenge called “Lose control” which was hosted by @smallvoiceco . The aim is to lose control by changing something about the way you usually paint. I decided to paint with one brush only. I chose a larger round brush, because my usual brush of choice is flat and I usually use several different sized brushes. I liked this exercise because it made me feel less precious and less invested in the painting turning out in a particular way. I was able to explore and to let things happen more easily. I was also able to learn how to manipulate a round bristled brush in a way that I had not before.
