I finally did it! I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.86, with my B.S. Criminology and Criminal Justice. Thank you to everyone who came all the way out to Arizona to celebrate me and this special occasion. And thank you to all who watched from afar. I could not have done any of this without any of you. All of you witnessed my stress first hand, and how much work I was doing to finish up my degree. You all are the reason why I was able to do this! Fall Semester 22 was rough but God!! Throughout my life in school, I have NEVER had straight A's. In my mind, I always had a mental battle if I was smart and intelligent enough to actually maintain these types of grades. Even when starting back school to grab my degree, I found myself at times feeling discouraged because of my age and where I was in life. I can only say there is something about the name Jesus. I laid all of my fears, doubts, and concern all to God and left it on the altar. I began therapy to maintain my mental health and began healing from things in the past that have reflected my present. I encourage all my fellow Men to get help when you feel like everything is against you and you are mentally falling. But most of all, you MUST AND NEED to have a relationship with God. Una raw pinangarap ni Lahaira Amy Reyes ang maging isang doktor. Ngunit dahil sa pagiging praktikal nagawa niyang bitawan ang pangarap at kumuha ng accountancy. Kwento nito, isang family doctor ang siyang nag-impluwensiya sa kanya para naising maging manggagamot. Kahit noong siya ay bata pa at tumuntong sa high school ninais na niyang maging obstetrician-gynecologist. Naisip na rin niyang kunin ang Medical Technology bilang kanyang pre-medical course. ⠀ Nagbago lamang ang kanyang desisyon nang kumuha na siya ng exam sa University of Santo Toma (UST). Anito, napagtanto lamang niya ang mahabang panahong gugugulin niya sa kursong medisina at ang sobrang mahal ng kursong ito. Naisip lamang daw niyang maging praktikal. At tulad ng ibang estudyante ay nakaranas din daw siya ng pagbagsak sa mga pagsusulit. Dahil dito, mas naging mapursige siya sa pagaarala nito lalo pa nang makaramdam ng pressure mula sa mga magulang na nangangarap na siya'y maging accountant. ⠀ Bukod dito, kailangan din niyang mapanitili ang mga grado para maging iskolar. ⠀ At sa kanyang tiyaga at pagpupursige, nakatapos si Lahaira bilang Summa Cumlaude at siya rin ang batch valedictorian sa College of Accountancy. Sa kabila nito, natakot pa rin daw siya na hindi pumasa sa board exam. Pag-amin ni Lahaira, nahirapan siya sa exam lalo pa nang madagdag ang Train law sa pagsusulit. "Nung last day, sobrang hirap ng tax; parang habang nag-eexam ako nag-sosorry na ako sa mga profs ko. ⠀ Sorry, sorry baka hindi ako umabot," anito. Kaya naman laking gulat niya nang malamang hindi lamang niya naipasa ang board exam kundi siya pa ang nanguna dito!
