I got tagged in a tweet yesterday from a Japanese based YouTube channel called @starcase and it really made my day! So the channel is dedicated to all things Star Wars, and Maniro & Namie pictured here, were given the challenge of recreating the infamous Star Wars Prequels Toybox cover I created for @empiremagazine but with the actual toys!! They printed out a giant jigsaw puzzle of the art and set to work, anyways, there's a fantastic (and bonkers) video of this on YouTube! Well, barring any complications down the road, it looks like 'rona's finally gone a-packin'! While I can't exactly say I've emerged a changed man like Boba, a couple of things worth mentioning do stick out: - Pineapple is the best fruit in the entire world, bar none. - The touch of the person you love isn't something to take for granted; hug whoever it is as often as you can. - Something I already learned during my numerous hospital stays as a youth, which remains true today: Thank your caretakers; make sure they know how much you appreciate them. - You WILL be thinner after a week and a half of home-cooked meals (the good) - You WILL be scrawnier after a week and a half of no exercise (the bad) - No matter how nice the prison, the inmate will always be glad to step out of it forever. - Sickness will inevitably interrupt any vacation plans you may have, so maybe plan a bit smaller. And remember that the person who organized the trip will be crushed about canceling it, regardless of how much she tries not to show it. - I spent a lot of my downtime worrying. Boy, was that a waste of time. Boy, isn't it always? -I'm still sooo tired. -I'm alive!!! Aaaaaaaaliiiiieeeeeeevee! I'm sure there's more, but that'll have to do for now! Tomorrow it's back to the gym to reclaim my guns (LOL), then swimming on Friday after work! And maybe some pics this weekend if the mood (and the energy) hold. Stay well, folks! And don't get this. I also ordered some toys on Walmart about a week ago, and they arrived a few days before I arrived in New Jersey! So we have the Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader Toybox 2 pack set that is sold out in Disney stores, and the Cars on the Road Salt Falts playset featuring Mater in his rocket suit! Apparently, the Cars Mater playset was on clearance, so I got it at 14 dollars, which is 8 dollars less than the original 22 dollars price! And two, despite the fact the Obi Wan and Vader 2 pack set is sold out at Disney stores, I got it at the same price Disney retailed it for! "Star Wars Toybox: Boba Fett & Stormtrooper." I've recently discovered BOTH Star Wars: Toybox AND Galaxy of Adventures figs (not the repackaged 3.75 ones, but the anime-style ones) and I have to say I'm lowkey hooked. I get that both of these lines, one from a defunct SW online game, the other from a series of youtube shorts that are already in the can, are technically being "marketed to kids"--but what does that even mean anymore? It's obvious that we adult collectors and photogs are the ones coughing up the dough to inhale our plastic crack, right? So what matters, to me, is whether the toys make ME feel like a kid! And on that score, they succeed wildly IMHO. I'm still waiting for my GOA Han Solo, the only one I could get my hands on at this point. But having procured several Toybox figs, let me say that they are a bit chunky in the best way, highly poseable, have very good gripping (all Toybox characters have the same set of hands, so that even non-SW characters in the Toybox line can hold each others' weapons and props), and perhaps most importantly, have comically-large feet (pun intended) that make them easy to set and photograph. I think Kylo is my favorite so far, but this guy is a close second! I obviously love Fortnite characters and have always felt that the Star Wars/Fortnite crossover possibilities have never really bore fruit figure-wise, but these Toybox figs are really, really close to what I would've imagined. Anybody else love these guys? Hate or even indifference welcome, too. P.S.
