Well I said I’d love to Christen the new tub with a topwater barrel Bluefin and I did not think for a second it’d happen on the maiden voyage for a quick couple hour shake down mish off the local in Bass Strait. With only the heavy topwater sticks on board we were greeted with a tonne of life but it took a while for the Tuna to materialise amongst the dolphins. First swing of the axe was a dud with all fish barring us but the next lot we found didn’t take long to dish up a hungry Tuna. A phat boatside eat on the Pelagus 165 redbait and the fish absolutely burnt off, which inevitably blew the drag on my reel so from there on was an uphill battle. We went stupidly hard on this fish given the circumstances as I wanted to release this fish as healthy as possible and knew the longer it went on the worse the drag would get, in turn we ended up having a 80 odd kg SBT boatside that was as green as grass in about 20 minutes. 🤣 we got the fish on the leader and tried our best to get it under control but it absolutely bolted and on that run the drag finally gave in and went moose mode and locked up which saw the braid part ways and the fish was gone. Pretty loose trying to do a release with just two p.o.b on a wild fish that was still upright 🤣 we could’ve gaffed it but I had no interest in taking the fish. Technically it’s a capture in game terms but i would’ve loved some boatside footage/photos which I could’ve if the bloody GoPro didn’t die. 🤦🏽nevertheless that’s #2 topwater barrel in the strait and the barbless singles willl fall out of him in no time! A fragrant, fresh and filling dish, this Spicy Prawn Laksa will warm you up on even the coldest of night 🦐 Ingredients 100g laksa paste (we recommend Ayam Malaysian Laksa Paste) 400ml coconut milk 1½ cups vegetable stock 250g firm tofu, sliced 500g Dinko Spencer Gulf King Prawns (peeled) 2 fresh chillies, sliced 200g rice stick noodles 100g bean sprouts Coriander, to serve Lime wedges, to serve Method 1 Cook rice noodles as per packet instructions. Drain and set aside. 2 Lightly fry tofu on medium heat. Set aside. 3 Heat a large non-stick saucepan over medium heat. Add tofu and lightly fry. Set aside. 4 Add laksa paste to pan and cook for 20-30 seconds, until aromatic. Add coconut milk and vegetable stock, stirring until mixed. Simmer for 3 minutes or until heated through and well combined. 5 Add Spencer Gulf King prawns and chilli and cook for 3 minutes or until cooked through. 6 Divide the noodles among serving bowls. Ladle laksa mixture over noodles, then top with beans, bean sprouts and coriander. Serve with lime wedges.
