I had to post about this new Marusan 1989 Godzilla I just received! It has to be one of the most fun sofubi figures I’ve ever collected! I’ve already been a fan of Marusan Godzillas for a long time. I just love the graphic approach to most of the sculpts and the symmetry! And of course Marusan is legendary with the OG J-tail Godzilla figure! This is a keshi color secret release, as in the tiny, rubber, keshi eraser figures we all love! But not only is it paying homage to a classic keshi color, the figure itself is rubbery and squishy! My family and I immigrated from Argentina to NY when I was about 4 years old. We spoke Spanish but passionately learned English, and eventually became U.S. citizens. I attribute a big part of learning to speak, read, and write in English to Sesame Street. Their lovable characters, hosts and music just drew me in on a daily basis and because they always depicted a world filled with diversity, I never felt left out, I felt like I belonged. This all gave me the inspiration to learn and ultimately readied me for kindergarten. Bernie is my artistic tribute to a show that really helped shape me not just educationally but creatively! I discovered Anraku Ansaku and Blobpus back in 2006 when I came across the Japanese toy board Skullbrain. I've loved their early figures and work ever since, and thought this Blobpus & mini Goga collab set would essentially be unattainable. But having passion and most importantly, patience for the things you love or collect can sometimes pay off. After all these years, I was fortunate enough to recently obtain this set without breaking the bank. The joy these vinyl creations bring to me is priceless.
