As Rosemary’s student, you are provided with a safe and creative space to curate and create. Our critiques are designed to foster critical thinking, not criticism. Critical thinking critique is a valuable skill set that will empower students to delve deeper into the ‘what’ and ‘why’ behind their work without fear of judgment or negativity. They’ll also build confidence as they interact with me, a licensed occupational therapist, as well as their fellow campers. I always dreamt of my children learning in the lap of Mother Nature! I came across Forest Schools, which emphasize learning in and from nature. I found excellent reviews about @premiernwkids and wanted to start with them when A was around 1.5 years old. They offer parent-tot classes on weekday mornings, which I couldn’t attend due to my office schedule and second pregnancy. We started the summer camp when he was around 2.5 years old (potty trained), and it was A’s first school. Both of us were equally nervous, and he had a rough time getting started. Sophia, the admin of this school, ensured to take it slow with early pick-ups until he gained confidence and adjusted to new people and environment without me. Her words gave me confidence, and the plan worked well with all teachers coordination. We started with 5 minutes and gradually increased to 3 hours. I knew he was in safe hands, and it calmed me down not worrying about this transition. This school catered to everything on my checklist. I would have continued for the academic year if they had full-day classes, but with my work schedule, half days are tough. We enrolled him this summer too, and he enjoyed it really well. I couldn’t think of any other school for the little one next summer to start the transition. I hope it would be smoother as his brother will be with him too in the summer. Nature, books, and the guides who respectfully nurture a child’s curiosity and developmental process by providing hands-on exploration, arts, sciences, and much more. Ravioli, ravioli, give me the formuoli to @bokabokchef Camp Rahh Kitchen Sink cookies! You asked, and we abided. The secret ingredient this year?! Some delicious @jcocochocolate from @seattlechoc! Who will be recreating these for the holidays? ✨ Camp RAHH Kitchen Sink Cookies Ingredients 2 cups of flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup soft butter 3/4 cup Light Brown Sugar, packed (150 grams) 1/2 cup White Sugar (100 grams) 1 large Egg 2 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract 11/2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips 1 cup Toffee Bits (like Heath Bits o' Brickle English Toffee Bits 1 cup Crushed Potato Chips (like Ruffles) 1/2 cup Chopped Pretzels 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt Instructions Preheat oven to 350ºF / 177°C. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a baking mat like Silpat. (These will make it easiest to remove the cookies from the pan after baking.) In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle or using a hand mixer, beat together butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract and mix on low, scraping down the bowl as needed. Add dry ingredients to mixer and mix on low just until everything is combined. Stir in chocolate chips, toffee bits, potato chips, and pretzels Roll cookie dough into golf ball-sized balls. (Roll them extra toppings if you would like.) Spread cookie dough out on prepared pans, leaving about 6 inches between them Bake cookies until edges are crisp and centers are still soff, 10-12 minutes. Meet the camp: “Mythical Magical” Inspired by our one of a kind Superhero vs Villains camp, this original camp idea came from our dancer, Coby! In this genre sampling camp, that includes lessons in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and modern, dancers create their own unique world- full of mythical and magical creatures. Troll? Knight? Fairy? Unicorn? Anything is possible in this mythical magical world. Custom costumes, dance props, stage backgrounds, and storyline is curated by the dancers with the guidance of camp directors. Dancers get an introduction to putting on a production! Family and friends are invited to watch the mini production at the end of camp. This Mon-Fri, 6.5 hour days camp includes a daily hour outdoor outing for play and lunch at the nearby park and playground. The AC studio and popsicle snacks keep dancers cool. Meet the camp: “Superheroes vs Villains” This is a one of a kind dance camp experience. Each day is broken up into separate genres of technique classes, giving the dancers a well rounded experience and opportunity to try varying styles of dance. Genres include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hip, and creative movement- an introduction to modern. Dancers decide if they will be a Superhero or a Villain and then create their own one of kind character. Comic work books are created, as well as custom capes, shields, and masks. The mini production performance is based on a storyline that the dancers create themselves, so each summer is a new experience. Daily outings for lunch at the nearby playground offer dancers fresh air and free play, and we cool down each afternoon with popsicles. Family and friends are invited into the air conditioned studio to watch a performance at the end of camp. Meet the camp: “Into the Jungle” Inspired by Royal Academy of Dance’s Jungle curriculum, this camp is curated specifically for the rising Kindergarteners. The 5 hour days Mon-Fri help prepare the students for their upcoming school year, without being overwhelming. In addition to crafting times, every day there’s an outdoor adventure to the nearby playground for lunch, play and fresh air. The studio is air conditioned and each camp day ends with a popsicle treat! Through imagination and play, dancers will learn foundational ballet in a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Meet the camp: “Under the Sea” For preschoolers ages 3-4, this camp is 4 half days (9am-noon, Tuesday-Friday), and drop off! Though, you’re welcome to maintain a comfortable closeness from our viewing lobby or a nearby coffee shop, library, or park. The studio is air conditioned and we end each day with a cool popsicle snack. Daily themed crafting is included. Through imagination, children will go on an Under Sea adventure while learning ballet technique, musical theory, and develop their social and thinking skills. A fun and gentle teaching style fosters a love for dance while also laying a foundation to build on dance technique. The week will culminate with a mini production performance for families!
