I just got back from Miami and the Monsters Of Rock Cruise. Five days of the best in life - non-stop music, good food, good people, waking up to the sunrise over the ocean and just listening to either electric guitars or the ocean waves before you go to bed. So what do these photos have to do with Paul McCartney, you ask? Well, one of the acts on MORC was Ace Frehley (ex-KISS). His drummer looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place him. It turns out that it was Scot "Coogie Monster" Coogan who played in Ednaswap for a short time. Rusty Anderson was in the same band - and if you've got Rusty's "Undressing Underwater" solo album, Scot is one of the musicians on it :) (so is Paul himself, by the way...). I know, nerdy trivia that people like me find cool and interesting. Most of all because the world of music is quite small and people are linked to each other in the strangest ways! 2023 was one hell of a year for me to be a Kiss fan. First off, it's my 25th official year of being a fan (I first heard kiss September 1997, BUT Did not become a fan until 1998). Second of all, July 1, I met the ONE AND ONLY SPACE-ACE, Mr. Ace Frehley... Shock Me! Also met his wonderful drummer Mr. Scot Coogan! Ace signed and personalized my Trouble Walkin, not only my favorite solo album of his, but that cover has a story connected to me when I was a kid (I believed he was falling down in a montage, but his guitar saved him!). In August for my birthday, my good friend of mine got me Ms. Lydia Criss's book - and my opening video got put on her Facebook! Also this year, in Oct Mr. Martin Popoff saw my mini review on his Kiss 50 book, I was blown away by his kindness! However, the best part about Kiss is always bonding with fellow fans! The coolest part this year was doing the mini Road to Rosemont podcast with old and new friends! Culminating in the final ever Kiss concert in Chicago on Nov 27 where I got to meet them (That statement will come true one day Ric!). Seeing Kiss with my Mom (Sandy) and her best friend, my "Aunt" Sandy was something I'm grateful for and will never forget! ! Thanks Mummy for making me a Kiss fan, and for getting me into this band. The story of my life with music is, you never held back in sharing your love of loud kick-ass rock music, no matter how young I was, and it's an incredible gift from you! 1050/H is for : Here Come The Brides – BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION – 2004. Brides Of Destruction is a supergroup formed by Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx and L.A. Guns’ Tracii Guns. Also in the band was John Corabi, but he and Tracii couldn’t stand each other and John finally left when they were in the studio. Scot Coogan was on drums and a certain London LeGrand who had previously recorded some demos with Lynch Mob was hired to sing. It’s funny that this same year, Velvet Revolver released “Contraband”, which is exactly in the same style – but a hundred times better! It’s like every time in his life Tracii wants to do something, Slash is around to remind him who’s the boss aha. Anyways, “Here Come The Brides” still stands as a cool Heavy Rock / Punk record, with short and efficient tunes meant to be played loud. The end of the album is a bit unbalanced with softer songs like “Life” and “Only Get So Far” which are not bad but not in the Punk vibe the disc started with. Actually, “Life” really sounds like Sixx A.M. (Scot Coogan sings on it) and I would have bet that it was written by James Michael but no! However I found out that James Michael has co-written a few songs here, but not this one. This first Brides Of destruction album isn’t essential but it’s still fun to play; however I would recommend never buying the second record they made without Nikki: “Runaway Brides” is a complete disaster, the worst shit Tracii ever recorded. He Makes A Hitchhiking-Like Gesture (Referencing The 1978 "KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park" Film, When Using His Transportation Powers), Magically Giving The Trio Copies Of The CD. He Lets Out An "Ack!" (Another Reference To The Aforementioned Film, In Which It Was His Catch Phrase), Then Rides Out. "Anomaly" Charted @ Number 27 On The Billboard 200 Chart In 2009. The CD Cover Folds Into A Pyramid. Another Version Of The CD Included A Temporary Tattoo. The Album Has Also Been Pressed On Limited Copies Of Vinyl Records. Last night, we checked out the new Nashua Center to see Ace Frehely and his amazing band play. Always a great rock party, and nice to see @scotycoogan back behind the kit bringing his furious attitude for the music.
