Almost every vendor sold out of product within the first hour!! I was truly honored to be invited to participate. It was the creme de la creme of local farmers market vendors! There are some tables I get to create, that are part of such special family milestones, it’s impossible to not feel like it’s part of my own family celebrations. I first met this client when I was hired to do her son’s first communion last year. I’m now lucky to call her a friend and also a collaborator (she’s an insanely talented chef and recipe maker @christina.difeo.petrella). So when she asked me to do her daughter’s, I was beyond thrilled - because I knew exactly what she wanted and she entrusted me with full creative reign. Her daughter’s favorite colors are lavender, periwinkle and blush which I accented with gold - all of my paintings for this project feature multiple layers of various shades of these colors (also with illustrations of the church in the background). This table is a great example of how the place cards and my artwork, really pull all of the details together - creating a cohesive visual dialogue. I wanted it to feel like an ethereal English garden, and by using various sized glass bud vases filled with cottage flower sprigs (all symbolic meanings) I arranged (garden roses, sprig roses, dianthus, columbine, eryngium and more) with lots of chiffon ribbons of various colors, I was able to achieve this. It was the perfect opportunity to finally also work with @monogrammary, who’ve I’ve been coveting to use in a project. From her, I commissioned grosgrain ribbons to be embroidered with the special girl’s initials and date of her first communion. Alternating colors, I tied these ribbons around the napkins of each place setting. It was feminine but not overly girly. And the colors looked so lovely in @anjelicasrestaurant (my first tablescape at one of my favorite restaurants - pinch me). I love doing these milestone tables, and allowing the mother to invest her full attention on her star of the moment, as well as being fully present in the actual celebration, that she doesn’t need to be spread thin with the reception details. @artful_living_by_betsy #artfullivingbybetsylow
