Nesting seams & perfect points bring me a LOT of joy! Having means to guarantee accuracy and neat points is super satisfying and it speeds up my workflow when chain piecing. 🫶🏼👏🏼✨🌈 I remember when I first started teaching myself to quilt and someone in my local fabric shop explained this technique to me. The ‘Matching Pairs’ panel from @kmelkight s upcoming Picture Book collection is gorgeous! 💕⭐️💖🤩 It comes in 3 colourways. A 42” x 24” piece gives a full repeat of all 56 different 3”x 3” squares, so there’s loads of possible combinations to choose from for creating your own matching pairs game!! Using them all, I’ve separated the motifs into 4 different sets of 14 pairs of motifs, each with a different coordinating fabric from the collection. I went for the exposed seams this time as I had 112 squares to sew. The Hero print ‘Memory Cards’ comes in 3 beautiful colour ways (tumeric shown here is my absolute fav!) and features 56 different motifs on 3” squares. The full repeat is 42” x 42” As soon as I saw it I was full of ideas for how these little squares could be used. I paused on my United States of Speckled map, partly to begin work on special #rubystarsocietymaker2024 projects and a partly because I was frustrated by a silly wrinkle in the grid fabric that occurred after pressing the layers. Ordinarily I’d be able to fix this easily, but because I’ve needed to use bondaweb, the fix is going to take a bit more thought! This last week I have been doing a LOT of cutting & the last couple of days I’ve been making a punnet of fabric strawberries 🍓😍😅 As soon as I saw Kim Kight’s strawberry toss print from her upcoming ‘Story Book’ for @rubystarsociety I knew I had to include these in a soft play activity! The economy block scrap “caterwaul” quilt which was my own creation came up 3 times! Also love that my post about the awesome retreat with @wendywilliamsflyingfishkits at @fifisfabricology at the Gold Coast got a gong! So glad that a couple of my @jenkingwell quilts were there with #clambakequilt and #daylesfordquilt Also how fun that the centre block shows my little scrap EPP Dresden plates that I continue to make and use randomly throughout different projects. here are two more of my favorite quilted denim jackets from 2023 that feature @rubystarsociety fabrics for consideration with my #rubystarsocietymaker2024 application ❤️🪡🧵 1) the “perfect all-american bitch” text is made of scraps of wideback Speckled and the red background is thrifted Moda. I thrifted the base jacket (Levi Strauss size L, fits like a S) as a light blue wash and dyed it scarlet red. the embroidery details were on the jacket already but as expected they stayed white because they’re a polyester thread. I listened to GUTS and more specifically ‘all-american bitch’ on repeat as I made this jacket! it was my Spotify top played song in 2023 which is impressive because it only came out in September. thank you @oliviarodrigo for writing such an incredible bop and album!!! text FPP patterns by @patchanddot! note: I’ll never use a directional fabric again for the background of text, but the color was such a good match that it would have been ridiculous to go out and buy a different fabric. 2) this orange pisaster is my original design based on a photo I took! fabrics are all RSS on this piece; I kept it simple with orange fabrics from Speckled, Floradora, and Curio. I got the jacket from Facebook marketplace, and it was a pale yellow before I dyed it this juicy orange (Topshop cropped size S, fits like a S) both will be available—along with a ton of other new goodies!—on my website tomorrow at 12PM PDT ⭐️ I’ve been wanting to get these posted for the last couple months but the state of the globe and my life have gotten in the way. thank you @kragle.creations for modeling and taking photos of me 💕 it was such a huge help!! #oliviarodrigo #allamericanbitch
