The 3 bridges across the Forth of Forth. The closest, the Queensferry Crossing and tallest being the newest, to replace the middle bridge, as it got too old to carry modern amounts of traffic. In the centre, is the Forth Road Bridge which was built in the 1960s and was the first time cars could cross the fjord (firth) at its oceanic point. You can also walk across this one. Not the new one strangely. And the most stunning of them all, the farthest one, the Forth Bridge, at over 140 years old it was built in the 1880s, it carries trains across the Firth. Due to very poor heath and safety at this time many men died building the bridge. It is a UNESCO Would Heritage Site. It was the first time the Lothian region to the south was connected to the Fife region in the north and beyond to the rest of Scotland, before this, people had to travel to Stirling and go around the Firth of Forth to travel north. Beautiful day out over in the East Neuk of Fife today for a walk and lunch in Pittenweem at The Cocoa Tree cafe, our favourite place for a treat. It was sunburn weather believe it or not! Hamish was sweating underneath all that Highland Coo fur and thought the mural of the seabird was real for a second and we could hear him squealing for help while he was trying to cool down in the breeze! Great fun collecting sea glass, old clay bottle shards, sea worn bricks and just 1 piece of coloured pottery on the West Shore. After one attempt and two exposures of trying to have my mom capture a photo of me pointing at the #mvrotterdam I had to cut bait and call it good! I got uncomfortable with my mom telling me to point and waive my digit and it was cold and my finger was beginning to shrink, it wasn’t from the beers we had just drunk, that never affects my pointing ability.
