A beautiful ending to the @tourofnorway . Stage 4 was 🥵 from the drop of the flag. A short, technical and narrow circuit that featured two leg breaking climbs meant there was no time for pleasantries. . @laurentgervais27 did what he does best and sniffed out the strongest break of the race, containing the likes of Ineos Grenadiers, Lidl Trek, Tudor and others. . The break was absorbed with 2.5 laps to go. The team did well to fight for position near the front in the final laps, ensuring we would be able to contest the final. @tylerstites made it count, making the selection and sprinting to 8th on the day. . Couldn't be more proud of the fight and resilience of this crew. Thanks to the @tourofnorway for giving us the opportunity to compete in this amazing race, across the most beautiful countryside. From the fjords to the North Sea, @brendanrhim went deep into the final kilometers of Stage 3 @tourofnorway. . A 4 man break went from kilometer 0 and survived until the leadout trains ramped the pace with 3.5km to go. A very impressive ride by Brendan up front while the rest of the crew did well to get together and contest the sprint. The finale was chaotic, and with max speeds of 78kph thanks to a raging tailwind, we came up a bit short. . It wasn't a perfect performance, but it is one to be proud of. . It's hard to fully describe just how deep the likes of @scottmcgilljr , @stephenbassett_ and @boardmanito went yesterday, but their faces give you a pretty good idea. . When you compete for a mission that is greater than self. When you are a part of a brotherhood, a part of The Echelon, you find something special and you answer the call to be at your best when your best is required. . Made the drive to do 2 of the 3 days of the Tour of Newport News again this year. The event is an Omnium type race, I didn’t do the Friday night street sprints. But I did both the Time Trial and Criterium races on Saturday, and then the Ft Eustis Circuit races today. The Saturday morning TT was fun, however, a bit cold while waiting to start. The course is a fun fast 2.5 miles out and back on Crawford Rd. Last year I did the course in 15:19. This year I finished 37th of 46 in my class, with a time of 14:15. Saturday afternoon was the Criterium race in downtown Newport News. The winds on the course were insane. Again this year, it was fast from the whistle. I lined up on the 2nd row to not have a repeat of last year. Unfortunately I was behind a rider that couldn’t get clipped in, forcing me to unclip, dab, reclip and have to sprint to catch the field. Turns 1 and 2 were a bit sketchy, it felt like my front wheel was getting pulled out from under me. I ended placing 57th of 60 riders. Not the result I wanted, but I did learn from this race. Sunday was the Circuit Race on Ft Eustis. I really like the course, it’s a flat 3 mile course that’s fairly fast (unless your dealing with same winds that we had during Crits). I lined up on the front row and held 3rd place for most of the 1st lap. 1 rider over cooked the first right turn forcing the pack to blow apart, then the same rider over cooked the 2nd to last turn before the start/finish line. The pack blew apart at that point. 5 guys decided it was time to burn a ton of matches to drop the field. Another rider and myself both decided to settle in and keep them in sight. We ended up settling working to just let the breakaway blow them selves apart. It worked during the last lap were able to catch and pass a lot of the guys that jumped on lap 2. Queen 👑 stage of @voltaaoalentejo . An incredibly challenging 148km stage with nearly 2500m of long and steep climbs put the team to the test. @c0lbylange initiated hostilities on the day and @laurentgervais27 followed suit to make his 3rd break in as many days. . The team did well to ensure @hugoscalajr and @scottmcgilljr made the final selection of the day, with Hugo going all and playing the ultimate teammate to close the gap to the break. Scott went on to finish 8th on the day and now sits 6th on GC. .
