Finally the woodpeckers are documented! This aquatint etching print was inspired by regular visitors in our backyard and done during the Työväenopisto's printmaking course. PROZESS: Teil 3/3 IN MEMORY III Hier seht ihr mich beim Aufbringen des noch fehlenden Schriftzuges. Dafür nutzte ich alte Bleisatzlettern aus meinem Bestand, die ich händisch aufstempelte – Buchstabe für Buchstabe und voller Konzentration. Verschreiben wäre in der Situation äußerst ärgerlich gewesen... ;-) Und das war auch schon der letzte Schritt zur Fertigstellung dieser druckgrafischen Arbeit. Danach nur noch einige Tage der Trockung abwarten, Fotos machen und ab in den Rahmen. Inzwischen hat sich diese Abeit auf den Weg nach Emsdetten in die Galerie Münsterland gemacht zu ihrer ersten öffentlichen Präsentation auf der Ausstellung VIEWS des Welbergener Kreises, die am kommenden Sonntag feierlich eröffnet wird. –––––––––––––––– PROCESS: Part 3/3 IN MEMORY III Here you can see me applying the missing lettering. I used old lead letters from my stock, which I stamped on by hand - letter by letter and with full concentration. It would have been extremely annoying to misspell in this situation... ;-) Then just wait a few days for it to dry, take photos and put it in the frame. PROZESS: Teil 2/3 IN MEMORY III Weiter geht´s mit Impressionen vom Herstellungsprozess der 2-teiligen Grafik „IN MEMORY III“. Lasst uns bitte kurz über diese besondere Farbe reden mit der ich da vor nur wenigen Tagen gedruckt habe, ok? Wer mich und meine Arbeiten kennt, der wundert sich jetzt sicherlich beim Anblick der Fotos. Denn GELB tauchte bislang nie in meinem Werken auf und war jahrelang ein Farbton, den ich regelrecht aus meinem Repertoire der vielen möglichen Farbtöne gestrichen hatte. Ja wirklich! Meine anfängliche Abneigung gegenüber GELB habe ich in der Vergangenheit laut bekundet und häufig thematisiert. So bekam ich beispielsweise nie gelbe Blumen geschenkt. In meinen Workshops bot ich GELB in seiner reinen, quietschigen Ausführung über viele Jahre lang nicht oder nur selten an. Nur auf Bitte der Kursteilnehmer kam ich diesem Wunsch nach. Mittlerweile schmunzele ich darüber... Letztes Jahr tauchte die Farbe dann erstmals ganz bewusst in meinen eigenen druckgrafischen Werken auf und – ja – ich finde langsam Geschmack daran. Mein aktuellstes Werk ist QUIETSCHE-GELB. Und ich muss sagen, es gefällt mir! Sehr sogar! ;-) Seid ihr gespannt auf das fertige Ergebnis? Im nächsten Beitrag, der gleich im Anschluss folgt, gibt´s den letzten Arbeitsschritt mitzuverfolgen. PROZESS: Teil 1/3 IN MEMORY III Heute und in den nächsten Tagen nehme ich euch mal wieder mit in mein Atelier und lasse euch hinter die Kulissen schauen. Diese Aufnahmen sind erst ein paar Tage alt und geben einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf eine meiner beiden Arbeiten, die ab dem 12. Mai in der Gemeinschaftsausstellung des Welbergener Kreises unter dem Titel “VIEWS“ in der Galerie Münsterland in Emsdetten zu sehen sein werden. Schon gespannt? Ich selber bin ganz fasziniert von der besonderen Strahlkraft dieses gelben Farbtones. Hammer – oder? Meistens sind meine Exponate zeitiger fertig, bevor diese ausgestellt werden. Bei diesem Werk allerdings hatte ich etwas Sorge es überhaupt termingerecht fertig zu bekommen. Einjuriert wurde es nämlich anhand einer vorab angelegten Visualisierung, die Teil meiner Bewerbung zu dieser Ausstellung war. Nun also galt es diese Druckgrafik gemäß des Entwurfes umzusetzen und fertig zu stellen. Und es ist geglückt! Im Hamburger Museum der Arbeit haben wir 2018 Zitate zum Thema Arbeit gesetzt und auf Postkarten aus feinstem Karton gedruckt. Diese wurden dann in vielen unabhängigen Buchhandlungen Hamburgs verkauft und der Erlös an Hinz&Kunzt gespendet. I came to the Northern Territory in 2012 to work in a remote Indigenous homeland, where I grew in my depth of knowledge and connection to the creation through doing life with Indigenous families. Jessica is a Sydney-born, Armidale, NSW-raised printmaker, artist and graphic designer. Today we are featuring @david_frazer_art who has supplied this print on the theme of “My Backyard” for the ’24 Exchange. David Frazer is an Australian artist renowned for fine wood engravings, linocuts, etching and lithographs as well as his sculptures and paintings. Frazer's work explores a sense of place and the emotions of longing, nostalgia and isolation that accompany it. His work is represented throughout Australia and overseas including the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of NSW, the National Gallery Of Victoria, The National Library of Australia, the National Museum of China, the Royal Academy of Art in London, and most regional galleries in Australia.
