Spent some of the day doing some wildlife photography in my backyard and stumbled upon some cicadas! Not sure if they technically count as wildlife, but they sure made for some interesting subjects! Managed to get a close-up shot of them, and those eyes are just captivating, aren't they? They say eyes reveal the soul, but not sure if I quite captured it in this shot. Still, had a blast trying! The sky was just incredible, it was so bright and just an explosion of colours. I had originally picked this spot because it has a good North facing exposure and I can get reflections in the lake which if you know me and my work, you know I love reflections haha. Although it turned out the North was where the Aurora showed up the least. The lucky thing about this location is that I can also shoot to the East and West and still get reflections and then turn around and shoot the South as well. This particular photo is more to the North East. I just love the colours in this one, kinda reminds me of traffic lights in the sky haha. "Finally got this breathtaking shot uploaded and I couldn't be more thrilled to share it with you all! It took quite a bit of preparation, but the results were absolutely worth it. I relied heavily on Photo Pills, despite its steep learning curve, to plan every detail of this capture. Clear Skies also played a crucial role, initially indicating unfavorable conditions, but miraculously clearing up just in time. Waking up at 12:30 AM, embarking on a two-hour drive, and spending another two hours shooting pictures of the Milky Way over Rocky Falls near Eminence, Missouri, was definitely a labor of love. But as they say, proper preparation increases the odds, and I'm beyond grateful for how this image turned out." The results are in (Italy came 1st and Mexico 2nd) and the planning is in full steam ahead. We’re going to Mexico, actually I’m taking you back to Oaxaca! I loved it so much when I went with friends back in February of this year… that I want to take you all back!! **Updated… stitch error** Last weekends trip to Port Austin was epic! 🌌 Drove up 3 hrs to catch the crazy aurora light show. I’m calling this one: Pier Magic! Beneath the St. Augustine pier, magic happens when morning light meets the dance of the tide. This past Saturday's my adventures found me wading into the waters of the incoming tide, camera and tripod braced against the gentle push of the sea, all to capture a moment most don't get to see. With a slow shutter, a neutral density filter, and the world swaying around me, I snapped the underbelly of this iconic pier in a way that blurs the motion of water but keeps the heart of the structure - weathered, textured, and beautifully rugged - in crystal clarity. Sometimes, to get the shot, you've got to become part of the scene yourself. Mid-thigh in water, I'd say it was more than worth it.
