El Hidalguense Oxnard Blvd & Wooley ARCO parking lot Plenty of parking. .. takes credit cards First time seeing this truck around, so I decided to stop in for some tacos… They do have signs up stating that they are moving to 740 S Oxnard Blvd, which looks like the EZ Tune Ups parking lot on Oxnard Blvd. So if you want to visit, try that location to find this truck. All the tacos were served up on hand made tortillas and topped with onions and cilantro. Pollo taco - this one was a bit dry…. Makes your mouth dry out eating it as served. The salsa verde offered with the tacos was very good, and a bit spicy.. add the salsa to the chicken tacos brings them up a notch to the enjoyable level. Carnitas Taco - The carnitas was nice and moist, shredded well and fell apart easily. A bit on the bland side, needs some salsa, yet it was good quality meat. I enjoyed this one. Asada Taco - The asada was good, juicy and tender. A very solid asada taco that I wouldn't hesitate to get again. Pastor Taco - The pastor was also good and flavorful. Nothing extraordinary, just a solid pastor taco. Overall, the winner on this trip is the asada taco! Tacos El Del Gorrito Ventura Rd & Wooley Rd Parking was difficult to find here at this truck. Only one or two spaces of close street parking, otherwise you have to park in the stores parking lot, which is small already. I actually drove around the block twice and on my 3rd time around, a spot was opened up. They had a $10 burrito special for any of their classic burritos. I ordered the pollo burrito with salsa Verde. This was a very nice sized burrito filled with all kinds of goodness. The first few bites were mostly rice, but after that…. The pollo con salsa verde hit my taste buds. I like chicken in the green salsa because it feels like a lighter bite.. and this chicken with a nicely spiced salsa verde was perfect. Not spicy hot, but full of flavor. Santa Fe Tacos These tacos were excellent! Double corn tortillas filled with cheese, asada, pico de gallo and guacamole. The tacos were stuffed with asada and a very generous portion of guacamole. All the flavors here worked really well together and made for some very filling tacos! Pastor Tacos These tacos were a bit dry…. I saw they had a trompo out front with pastor on it, but it looked dry and not fresh from the outside.. as I suspected, the pastor just didn't taste fresh.. no pineapple slice on the taco either, which might have helped freshen it up. These tacos needed some salsa, but I wasn't offered any with my order.. Asada Nachos Crispy chips filled the tray topped with asada, jack cheese and all the usual nacho toppings. The cheese was very creamy and made the nachos have a texture to them. I usually prefer the shredded cheese like this rather than the typical nacho cheese sauce, so these were perfectly made just the way I like them. I also ordered up a piña aqua fresca. This tasted fresh with fresh bits of pineapple. It was really good and refreshing. Everything was really good except the pastor tacos.. Maybe it just wasn't their day today. Tacos El Vladis Oxnard Blvd & Vineyard Ave Chevron Parking Lot I've seen this truck here, but never had an opportunity to stop. Recently, someone told me that I need to check it out. I'm so glad I did! I'll definitely be back! On this visit, I ordered the Surf n’ Turf Burrito, Asada Tacos and some Al Pastor Tacos. Asada Taco The asada in this taco shined! It was so flavorful, definitely marinaded in a rich broth for a while leaving a nice tender bite.. then, some charring on the outside giving it a nice flame broiled crunch to finish it off. Really great quality asada here! Al Pastor Taco The al pastor was almost as much of a bright spot in our meal as the asada was.. I'm not sure what they do with their meat to make it so tasty.. so far both the asada and al pastor were excellent and full of flavor! The tortillas on the tacos were also very flavorful, freshly grilled and tasty. The avocado slices on the top of the tacos finish these off as some of the best tacos around. Surf n' Turf Burrito At first bite, the flavor of the shrimp and asada come through nicely.. the rice is nice and moist, the shrimp is fresh and you already know how I feel about the asada.. However, the full flavor of the asada and shrimp within the burrito seems muted by the other burrito fillings.. my bad.. I should have gotten the surf n turf tacos rather than the burrito. Nothing bad about this burrito, but I'm going for tacos next time so that I can experience the full effect of the Surf n’ Turf! That habanero salsa though.. it's no joke! One of the spiciest salsas around that still has a great flavor! I like hot sauces that have good flavor rather than just hot to be hot.. If the super hot is not for you, go for the salsa verde.. that one is a bit milder and still has lots of flavor.
