May is maternal mental health month! My why, why did I get started in photography. I am the mom of three. After my first, I discovered the scary in-between called postpartum depression. It's a place you can't describe. To love someone so much while having a dark, lonely feeling fill your body. I've never been able to put postpartum into Word, but one of my favorite songs has this line, and it's the closest thing I've ever found to fit. " Feels like I'm failing, I'm dancing while drowning alone." I can't thank everyone enough for letting me take your picture. It's truly so much more happening for me than you know. It helps in many ways. Thank you! 🫶 My three muses, even though my two bigger boys are harder to get in a picture, I thank them. I thank them for everything in my life, good and bad. I love them so much. I think everyone hope their kids remember the good days more than the hard ones. Yes, they have seen me have hard days. Sometimes, the depression is hard, and no amount of trying to hide it helps. On those days I look at photos of the boys and I. I go back to that day remembering the chaos and the beauty of it. I hope to give that to another momma thur my photos. To know on the hard day that there is so many more days coming! Keep looking for the light! Hands On the bus two women show each other their hands brush one finger along another pause above a joint to strum creases in skin they've worn so long they admire and grieve the time it keeps tap a cross-hatch of wrinkles trace stitcheries of blood tut at a crinkled knuckle. We watch those hands pause our eyes on their thumbs. You rub warm your weak knuckles a cave of aches every winter scaly with eczema. We have flowed, passed currents through these hands. The women smile as they chafe summon blood to glow wintry fingertips. It is slower these days they must wait until it obeys. They interweave fingers in their laps turn to the window to boys playing football on a green with cardboard fruit box goals but we keep finding new detail in our hands wrinkles, shallows between ridged veins. We hadn't noticed this fine work blood in relief when we turn our wrists ink-blue and hard. I appreciate everyone so much! Starting a new journey can always be filled with so much what if's. Thankful for everyone who picks a beginner in any field. I have learned a ton in 6 months. My family and friends have been incredible. I got to experience a birth from the other side. Learned how to wrap newborns. How to find kids' authentic giggles. Bring families a keep sake. I learned a lot of people haven't done a photoshoot before. I've been so nervous to try and do mini's. This was the second kinda mini's I've done. It turned out so great! I can't wait to finish them. This is us!! Mom of 4 boys! Three mine and a bonus son with my husband. The oldest is about to be 17, which just blows my mind. Youngest is 1, and I try and stop him from growing every day, haha. Once you have one kid, you truly realize how fast time goes. My husband is Matt and a crazy smart human. He spends his days being behind a computer. His evening is filled with wild play as these boys light up when he gets home! He is drummer, which is how I met him many moons ago! He has some shows coming up with @framinghanley . I'm Jay, I have many hats that I take on and off. Caregiving for the elderly has been my longest job. I have stayed in one house for years. I'm thankful for anyone I've had the honor to take care of rather it be years or weeks. I wouldn't say I get free time 😅🤣. I do just about everything with at least one kid. Some of our hobbies together are lifting, biking, hiking, and dancing! The kids and I dance every day. It's my favorite! Happy Valentines day!!! When I was a brand new mom, I was too nervous to leave my house with a newborn. I did a lifestyle newborn session at home. Which I love I did, but I'm personally a studio photo style lover, haha. The little props and outfits I love it! One thing I really want to provide is studio style Newborn session with props and wraps to your home! This was my first in home newborn photos. Letting this family stay in the comfort of their home with their new love. Mom and dad are getting to take a min and relax.
