It's our turn to test the new mattress. My parents are cheap, or as I like to say, poor, so they bought a "defective" one from a liquidation seller or something like that. Idk whether it's pathetic or something to be envious of, but my mother has never had a band new mattress. She's always had hand-me-downs and used ones, so she's super stoked to have this brand new comfy one. As I like to say, "That's disgusting!" This mattress is super thick! It's much taller than the last deflated one. Maggie sometimes has bad depth perception, but she's been handling this matters much better than she does that fur of hers. I think mother must like this mattress, as she hasn't wanted to get out of bed. Then again, mother is always wanting to sleep. Update on Stockings from my mom "Vet called this morning. His labs are better but he's not. He had a seizure so other organs are being affected. Anti-seizure meds made him lethargic. This is no quality of life for him. I woke up this morning and I knew something was wrong with Stockings and we were going to have to let him go. Then about an hour later, the vet called to let me know. He kept apologizing, saying he thought from his labs he would turn around. I told him we appreciated him giving him a chance because he wasn't ready to give up yet and we didn't want to give up on him. He's so miserable and not going to get better. It's time to let him go. 😢 I'm devastated." 😭 He's been a part of our family for 13 years. We didn't know what to do when FeFe wasn't feeling well. 😿 (This was taken when Felix was staying at the vet's & we were following Mommy everywhere.) I, Maggie, informed my humans (every 10 minutes or so) that something wasnt right with him. They already knew & were wheel burrowinghim around, but as the eldest of this house hold, it's my responsibility to make sure they don't forget & "fix" him. P.S. Please excuse the mess. My stupid humans are too "busy" making memories, or something like that. If anything, hopefully it makes you feel better about your home & humans. UPDATED on Felix: ▪He was able to come home 2 days ago & was thrilled to leave the vet. 🏡 ▪He can use his back legs again & is able to walk, but still has problems using them.🐈 He makes a thunking noise every step his back legs take. He is still a bit wobbly though. (Before, we would carry his hind legs & hold under his tummy to help him get around. *Think wheel burrow races you'd have as children; It was kind of like that, but with a cat & grown human. Yes, there was a lot of uncomfortable bending & use of muscles. (Mommy & daddy are out of shape & once FeFe got the hang of it, he liked to go fast 🥵) If he wanted up, he'd simply look to where he wanted to be. After awhile though, he became in so much pain, which we found out was due to his full bladder. ▪A few days ago, he began eating & drinking again & is back to his usual feeding habits.⛲ (The vet had to do a sub Q on him before.) ▪He can urinate on his own again!🥳 (He had a catheter at the vet, because he couldn't pee & they weren't able to extract his bladder.) ▪He is talking & purring again!😻 ▪He can jump up onto the bed as long as he pulls himself of part of the way. Yesterday, Felix's back legs were wobbly to where he could only take a step or two then would fall over. We figured his brother, Prince, & him were playing & that Fefe's hind legs were reinjured. He wasn't his normal talkative self & didn't even purr. (I decided to add food, water, toys, his bed, & a litter box all in one room for him & stayed with him to comfort him.) However, as the day progressed, he got significantly worse to where he couldn't use his back legs at all & hadn't gone to the bathroom. I was luckily able to get him into a vet half an hour away. She said she believes he has thrombus aka saddle thrombus, FATE, aortic thrombus embolism (It is a problem caused from heart disease where a blood clot forms & travels down the body until it gets stuck.) & recommended taking him to a specialist (which is 3 hrs away) or a veterinarian teaching school (which is cheaper, but is 4 hrs away) to confirm it & begin treatment. It struck Felix, affecting both hind legs. (As most of you know, my husband found Felix in May of 2020, in traumatic shape. If you recall, he couldn't use his back legs for walking. I believe this is what happened to him before & of course worsened. Thankfully, he claimed us & with his perseverance & determination, & a TON of LUCK & BLESSINGS, we were able to eventually nurse him to health! He became the baby of our family & is beyond loving & affectionate. We didn't know how much our family was missing until he entered it. Like I said though, it is a miracle he survived, because the vet said thrombosis is an emergency situation & extremely painful. Researching thrombosis, it appears that most cats may die despite treatment, fail to regain rear limb function, or continue to develop more emboli. (It appears Felix so far falls under the reoccurring saddle thrombosis.) He conquered it before, I believe he can do it again! I will be CONTINUING this post on a second post.
