Every dog is different as every owner and their routine. As a dog trainer and dog owner I encourage to expose the dogs to as many situations as you can in a controlled way. This brings balance to the dog and, in the same way, it brings mental and physical exercise. It also gives you freedom and life quality with your dogs allowing you to be with your furry friend in many places. People come to me and other trainers looking for answers to their problems. Some people send their dogs to boarding because they can’t behave in a car ride. I love to be with my dogs so instead of send it to boarding I’ll do small car trips so my dog gets used to it. Avoiding the problem doesn’t solve it, small doses of exposure in the other hand, can lead to solve your problem or minimize it, always supervised by a professional that understands the situation. Every dog have different issues, Nala my German shepherd hatted all the bikes or skateboard, Kamila my bullldog hatted baby talk, Avila my mutt is scared of thunder and I can keep going; there are as many issues as dogs in the world. No every problem can be solved but definitely they can diminish to a point that is not a problem anymore but a situation that you have to be aware of. If you have an aggressive dog you might no be able to unleash it in the dog park but definitely you can have a nice walk with him without your arm being ripped. I want to share an amazing day that Aries and I had at hemlock Falls and the amazing dog that he is. Despite the weather we went for a hike and we discovered an amazing place. We have a great day walking in the woods with a refreshing rain over our heads. But the highlight of the day wasn’t the scenery or the gorgeous day, the best part of the day was witnessing what Aries can do when you let him Be himself. Hemlock falls has a vast amount of trails and with the rain it was difficult to stay in the right one. After walking for an hour we found ourselves in a different track that brought us far from our destination. Here is when Aries took over and when I thought he was showing signs of tiredness he was actually telling me that we were on the wrong path. The deep forest and the rain made impossible to use the gps to find the right track so I trusted the amazing instincts of Aries and of course he brought us to the right path again. We had to return through the same trail that we came but he even knew where the car was. It was our first time there and we will be back to finish the trail. Aries is an incredible 6 years old GSD that didn’t have the right owner and is looking for his forever home. Hey everyone! So… Dad & me, we did this thing!!! We been goin to this place every weekend this last few weeks together. Mom says it’s agility training. I don’t know what that means but I had so much fun with Dad working on tricks and training (and getting treats for my rewards!) Not only do we learn together in class, Dad works with me every day during the week, even late at night when he come home tired after work and on the weekends. He put so much work into helping us learn this fun stuff. He’s really the best Dog Dad there is. Dad and I graduated today from Foundations of Agility, Pt. 1 and Mom is so proud of us. She was so happy when we brought home our certificate (Murph too! He has been coming to class and watching us… he maybe wants to do this training too!). I can’t wait for more of this! Murphy has shown improvements this week, he no only has mastered the feeding mat, he mastered the bottle feeder ( just a clear plastic bottle where he can see an hear that is food inside) also he is showing some interest on playing with Avi. HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!! I got all dressed up in my @sparkpawsofficial hoodie and went to the office with Mamma for a bit today and then we went for walkies around Main Street and Broadway in Denville. There were lots of new and different sniffy things there, cars, sights, noises, and other doggos!! And treats because Mamma said I was such a good girl. You don’t always have to go to the dog park or have your dog run and play themselves to the point where they’re physically tired. Today, I exercised my nose, my senses and my mind. A different kind of workout. I know I’ve been talking and posting so much about Lady Daisy because she’s with us temporarily. We’re getting to know her and helping her find her forever home. And social media exposure is a huge key to accomplishing that goal. And all this time, our Avi has been here. Acclimating to a new dog living in her space where her big sister Nala used to be. She learned a lot from Nala and has been doing her best to share what she knows with Daisy. She’s sharing her toys, her beds, and her space with her foster sister and we are so proud of her. Fostering is not easy for the humans, and it’s not easy for the doggos either. But Avi has stepped up right along with us to help us help Lady Daisy feel safe and loved. And when Lady Daisy eventually finds her forever home, we know Avi will miss her. Playing, snuggling, and having company while we are at work. Maybe she won’t miss Daisy knocking over her water bowl 😂. As much as she’s had to give up and share with Daisy, she’ll miss her. She’s got such a strong heart and so much unconditional love packed into that little body. I am so beyond grateful for this little nugget. My first dog, my pal.
