Another project from quite a few years ago (2015) I was still in the ‘perpetual beginner’ phase of quilting, for every project involved trying out a new technique. This patchwork block, called Blazing Star, was chosen especially for the recipient - as were the colours (all from my fabric scrap stash). The new technique was Foundation Paper Piecing and this was not only my first attempt at this method, but I also had to make the pattern for it ! Because I was going to be machine piecing it together I thought it would be made fairly quickly but I found myself staying up until the early hours to complete the whole cushion cover! The silver-lining of being up so late/early was photographing the finished item in the early morning sunrise as it lit up my east-facing sitting-room windows.
