The terrible twos are definitely here...not to mention the stumbles and all. We had to make a trip to the dentist on Monday to remove a broken front tooth as he fell and split one of his front teeth into half! He looks strange right now but it hasn't stopped him from running around like crazy. We definitely have to keep a tighter eye and rein on him. The little one turned 2 years old on Thursday, ushering in a whole new era of tantrums and being his big boy self. He is tall at 89cm, which means we have to be careful that he doesn't grab stuff off the stove. Don't let the bulk fool you - he is no longer the bambam he was in his first year. 🤭 He loves speed walking, climbing and has discovered the slide at the playground so one has to keep a close eye on this one lest he tumbles, etc. Already we have had to deal with scraps and all plus he chipped one of his front teeth so it's definitely time to teach him some caution! We are starting to hear simple sentences from him such as "I go, bye bye" or "Let's go, allez!". Nap times are becoming a challenge as he straddles that fine line between two naps or just one nap a day. It really depends on what time he wakes up. He took a tumble on NYE hence the bruises in the second picture but otherwise he is his usual baby self. We have also started potty training him but it's not always on point. At nearly 21 months, Luc turned into a typical whiny baby in the last two days due to the flu. He sported a low grade fever, cracking voice and went into flu blown (pun intended) UHU gam, carry-me-only mode yesterday. All his words, like up, light, thank you, wee wee, unicorn, sit down, dirty, etc, were replaced with just one word...or rather the same word repeated thrice - no no no! Cheeky here is handling each day with much fun! He dropped his morning nap and slept for a cool 2.5 hours in the afternoon. Perhaps it's a sign that he is outgrowing them naps. Every day is a new experience with this one. He is brisk walking these days and sometimes running. It's hard to believe that he is nearly 19 months old and slowly creeping to the big twos. He is way more assertive now, crying out when he doesn't get his way. So these days, it's all the more important to be firm and consistent. He loves helping out with the house chores, with his fave being tossing away his own diaper and putting on/taking off his shoes. And with that, he is now 1.5 years old (16 months). Every day, we are discovering something new about him and he is definitely becoming more vocal with his needs. Some words he uses all the time Mum mum - food/water bottle Airplane Bird Grrr - mostly when he has his bear toy or dinosaur or tiger outfit Nei nei - Noooooo (during temper tantrums) Nen nen - boobies Me - used usually with food Then there are the flying kisses, the waves and pointing. The tantrums are crazy tho. Luc is such a curious baby, always wanting to try what we eat, play with what we have and well, just kaypoh. He knows how to communicate what he wants by pointing and adjusting his pitch & tone. There is still a lot of baby blatter but that's just normal. He learns well and fast, and is ever willing to help around even tho sometimes I think for him, it is pure play. Today's visit at the doc's went well. Bubs is 9.6kg and 79cm tall - which the paed remarked is not common among Asian babies. Hello 11th month and we are inching our way to his first year. Talk about time flying by. We flew past Luc's 10th month last week - thanks to CNY and my, how he has come a long way. He loves his rice, noodles, bread, puffs and all so no more purees. Fish, egg yolk and beef are his favourite proteins and so are fruits. His new loves are watermelons and tangerines plus Chinese mandarins! Socially, he is quiet and observant, choosing only to be carried by women. He seems to be distrustful of men - you need to give him time to warm up. Happy 9th month Luc! He is starting to know what he wants and what he doesn't want. And what he doesn't want, well, he is vocal about it. He is actively crawling around and pulling himself up but the change in environment has led to a regression with his eating. He is more keen on looking around and trying table foods with the only exceptions being yogurt. He still takes some of his puree but I want to introduce pasta and noodles too. My life these past six weeks has been one big blur of nothing but baby, breastfeeding and lack of sleep. Only recently have I started going back to pre-Luc activities like playing board games, going to the mall, eating out and exercising. And even then, there is that anxiety about whether Luc sleeps enough, etc. Baby has become the center of my conversations too. Sigh. We are about less than a week from Luc turning one month old! Sometimes I find it hard to believe that he is here yet the changes to my routine and life is now more apparent than ever. Everything, from a simple shower to meals, have to be put on hold while his needs come first. Either that or the timing has to be right. Breastfeeding is now better even tho he cluster feeds (feeds every hour during certain periods of the day) at times and sleeps long bouts at others so I can't exactly put him strictly on block feeding (feed every 3 hours).
