International Cafe was opened by the same wonderful family that has owned and operated International Market and Deli for years, International Cafe has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and a menu bursting with mouthwatering dishes. It's the perfect place to unwind and savor a meal or enjoy a Turkish coffee. The Mediterranean menu caters to every palate, whether you're looking for a leisurely dinner with loved ones, a quick lunch catch-up with friends, or a solo meal at the bar. Gluten free and vegan options are available. There are also some great desserts. Come as you are and leave with a satisfied heart, a full stomach, and a smile. Our first morning on Sanibel was spent at the newest restaurant on the island @wickies_lighthouse and it was so good, we went back for dinner! This was only their third day open and they seemed to have it all going smoothly already. My blueberry pancakes were piled high with fresh fruit, candied pecans, Nutella and whipped cream. For dinner I had the pear and Gorgonzola flatbread, the hubby had the shrimp scampi flatbread and both were incredible! Our second renovation at the DoubleEwe brought us face-to-face with layers of history, including more of the beloved checkerboard linoleum from upstairs. While the hot pink tile and Florida room wallpaper had their charm, we aimed to cultivate a more serene sanctuary. The complete gutting of the space allowed us to envision a tranquil retreat. Removing the pony wall and repositioning the toilet unleashed possibilities for a spacious, curbless shower and a shared vanity with much-needed functional storage. Out with the old and in with the new – an energy-efficient slider replaced the single-paned window, inviting natural light to dance across the revamped space.
