Wrasse Bashin 🎣 Always good fun to target some Wrasse, especially on the light gear. You’re always guaranteed a good scrap 💪. We can’t speak for all anglers but for many, the infamous Wrasse was probably among the first species most people caught during their very first fishing sessions. As young kids we would spend many afternoons fishing from our local pontoon using limpets, mussels or prawns if we could catch them. Wrasse would always be on the cards using these baits. Many years have passed since doing this but catching them still to this day will never fail to put a smile on our faces. We hope they do the same for you. Well my first carp session of 2024 was a success, even if I was only on the bank for a just over a hour! Loose feeding a mixture of 8mm @dynamitebaits sweet F1 pellets and red and white maggots to get them grubbing around the edge of a marginal reed bed. I then presented a 15mm Dynamitebaits yellow dumbbell pineapple pop-up (which had been soaked in isotonic goo) on a spinner rig with a small PVA bag of 8mm pellets for my hookbait to present over. It didn’t take long before I started getting liners followed by my alarm screaming into meltdown! That’s a wrap! The 2023/24 river season has been over and done with for almost a week now. Reflecting on the season we’ve just had, I’m sure I speak for many of us when I say, it’s not been the best. With constant floods and heavy rain sweeping the country, water like coffee and river levels reaching record levels… It’s been tough! This has been the first season since 2020 where I haven’t landed a 20lb river pike😢 but despite this it has still had its ups! I gained a new sponsorship with @thelurebox who have sorted me out with some incredible kit! I started the season pre baiting for carp, after loosing one and crying about it for the rest of the evening, I landed a total of 7 tench over 72hrs all on @dnabaits 26mm TheBUG boilies and one of which being a PB! I have landed three new speciese this year! The first being a chub, secondly a brown trout caught on a custom @spfbaits crank and finally a rainbow trout caught on a @fox_rage_fishing progrub shad 👌🏽 I have managed to introduce my good friend and barber to lure fishing and he quickly got himself a 10lb pike under his belt on a UL set up! And I also took my best friend fishing for the first time where he landed a 2 1/2lb+ perch! (Beginners luck or a good mentor?😁) I have landed perch to over two and a half pounds this season but a new PB perch is still a possibility! I have landed countless numbers of pike this season. I have been mostly favouring deadbaits due to the poor visibility in the floodwater however my most memorable catches of the season have been a 18lb+ beast caught in the dead of night on a @fox_rage_fishing 23cm shallow rep and a 19lb13oz croc that absolutely smashed me around the park! New venue✅ new species ✅ bad day turned good ✅ myself and my friend Chris went out on a little bit of a hunt yesterday for some new spots while the rivers are back in flood yet again. We managed to find a real hidden gem! Tucked away surrounded by nothing but tree’s fields and rolling hills, we was in the middle of no where with only ourselves and the birds as company! I decided to put my 7.5cm @fox_rage_fishing silver baitfish pro grub on, I rigged it with a 3.5g jig head to help keep the retrieve slow and boy did it work! After missing my first two hits I eventually managed this beauty on what we told ourselves was going to be the last cast and boy did it work out!
