A complete hit of a new spot @danbi.ktown This uni rice bowl with sweet shrimp was amazing! What a dish. It’s one of the best things I’ve eaten this year! We started with honey chips, pork jowl and steak tartare with bone marrow. What a lineup! Everything was really good. Red snapper crudo was so refreshing. The scallop pancake really hit the spot! I really loved how crispy this was. I love a Korean seafood pancake but they tend to be more delicate and not crispy enough. That is not a problem here! The texture is perfect. Lastly, we had the wagyu zabuton which was a very hearty dish. There was so much wagyu and it was absolutely mouthwatering and delicious. I’m so happy this place has opened. We’re definitely going to be frequent diners at this new spot.

You can also get the two mixed, a curiosity from Hong Kong worth enjoying if you have not yet. Having the milky brew helps you go over the long menu, which can be a little intimidating. As the level of your coffee or tea eventually goes down, they will come around and offer a refill, a very pleasant surprise. Between 08:00 and 11:00 daily they have a list of fourteen breakfast sets, but you can order many of these items a la carte throughout the day. Try at least one order of their French toast, which is described as “Western style” but is thoroughly a product of these islands. The fluffy fried bread they are served with is reason enough to order it, even if the fillings are just average. The peanut butter French toast ($7.99) has a thin layer of its namesake ingredient, sandwiched by two thick slices of their excellent bread. Happy Mother’s Day all! And what better treat than a box of delicious pastries from @liuscafe, a Taiwanese cafe in Koreatown. After seeing @liuscafe on my feed for a while, it was finally time to for a visit. I was worried about long lines so we showed up 30 minutes before it opened and were the second ones to order. By the time we got situated the food was already coming out. First, let’s take a look at this amazing pastry box. We practically ordered at least one of everything in the case. While I didn’t try everything (we split the box among the group) my favorite was the matcha pineapple bun (scroll toward the end for the big reveal). I thought the cream inside the regular pineapple was too buttery which overpowered the flavor however all the other pastries (scallion biscuit, corn and cheese croissant) were great and I’d definitely order them again. Foodwise we ordered two (!) of everything on the menu. I really loved the HK style French toast. Oh my it was so good! Inside was a delicious lava cream and the outside had a light and crispy crunch. The maple syrup along with a touch of sea salt balanced the sweet and salty flavors. It was delicious and a must order. The other dish I really liked was the cold sesame noodles. Chewy and peanuty, you can also add chicken, which I didn’t do this time but would get it next time. The pork belly rice bowl was really tasty but I just wished there were just bigger meat chunks ti sink your teeth into. However, the flavors were really great. Overall Liu’s Cafe is great place for delicious Taiwanese food and I look forward to coming back soon!

I love a pancake but I can usually only eat a bite or two. But his was so light and manageable! But the total winner of the day was the rice bowl! Rice with a chicken broth, egg and veggies. Why is everything @budonokila so good? I’m kind of obsessed with how amazing it is. Special of the night! Tsukune. Loved these! I wish these were on the menu every night. Scallop crudo is the perfect way to start! The Agedashi tofu was so yummy. The perfect texture. My first time having the naem plate and I loved it! The pork sausage was delicious and overall the dish had all the right flavor and vibes. This is a must order! The wings are such a good treat especially with the side of pickled daikon. The seafood pancake was light and fluffy. The texture was insane! Usually these can be kind of heavy but this was so balanced and delicious. The Budo-gnocchi was so good! Their take on cacio e pepe is always so satisfying and perfect. Then came the wagyu! Wagyu in the yakisoba which was flawless and the wagyu zabuton with a foie-er sauce. This is my favorite dish on the menu! It’s a great price and hits the spot every single time! Lastly, we finally got the soft serve for dessert and it did not disappoint.
