Ripening fire. Mood: spring Series: chic walk Komon: black shattergrass Nagoya: cattleya orchid mosaics Zori: bespoke Accessories: Uniqlo, offbrand I'm fond of orchids, but I'm not the only one, so it's usually a fight to get them if I find a design I like. This is a bright and loud design not favoured by the dominant aesthetic, so I didn't have competition. But it was also quite hard to match -- which is probably why only I wanted it. I do like these gaudy obi. The aesthetic of the tropics is precisely in bright colours. I'm just lacking in equally gaudy kimono because all the old style ones are too small, which causes the mismatch. I'll find a way to make it work, of course; that's the point of this blog. Initially, I had started flatsuke_planet as a sort of personal gallery to log my kimono coordinating practice because I was having difficulty making OOTDs on short notice. It has helped GREATLY and now I am good enough at it to make colour and pattern recommendations to friends. However, @kanzashi.yume told me last week that she liked my content and encouraged me to advertise my blog with hashtags so that more people can enjoy what I'm doing. First I clean it a little. Then I apply a 1:1 distilled white vinegar solution to bring back some vibrance. As silk leans acidic on the pH scale, it dyed in acid based dyes. So depending on the specific pigment, sometimes we can bring back some life by exposing it to a gentle acid again. The vinegar will not harm the silk. Then I replace the opaque white that has been lost and is barely visible. I trace the old lines, that I can see under my God Light™, and soon she is whole again. Swipe to see the result. I had to think about why I'm going so hard for this piece. It's actually not especially well done or particularly rare by itself. There are mountains of antique ro kurotomesode out there. I think it's because of what was done to her. Moreover, what I see that she survived before she got to me. I'll go over all of the strange alterations that had been done, the peculiar kinds of damage, but I'm very sure this piece survived internment. Someone once did the absolute best they could to keep this kimono as a part of their life and their heritage. She has many scars. So I'll do what I do, and put her back the way she was before it happened. She made it this far with all of her pieces. She deserves the care, I think. That's what makes her special. Something I catch myself saying out loud as I repair things that are particularly small or difficult, "We'll get you fixed right up. You'll be okay." Yukata is easy to wear compared to kimono, but there are various knots of obi especially for girls. For suggestions, we have to practice many kinds of knots. I love my Uchikake arm chair 👘 This was Uchikake given to me a long time ago from our family friend. I had it stored for many years if not decades… so one day I decided it has to see the sun and let it live again. I asked my upholster to turn it into an arm chair cover. 大手着付け教室のテストに受かり、2023年春過ぎに、看板とお免状を受け取りました。 今後、着付けのご依頼を頂く際の料金まで記載されているものの、正直到底引き受けられる程のスキルではなく…。 副業とするにも、どう行動すれば良いか分からない日々が続きました😳。 I’ve passed the test of major class and received the license in spring 2023. In my license, the price of kitsuke was set but I thought that my skill wasn’t enough at that time. I wanted to work for kitsuke as a side job, however I didn’t know how should I do. J’ai finalement réussi l’examen de classe majeure et obtenu le permis au printemps 2023. Dans ma licence, le prix du kitsuke était fixé mais je pensais que mes compétences n’étaient pas suffisantes à ce moment-là.
