Britt Woodman, nace un 4 de junio de 1920, en Los Ángeles, California, Estados Unidos y se conmemora102 años de su natalicio. Britt Woodman fue un trombonista de jazz, era amigo de la infancia de Charles Mingus , pero primero trabajó con Phil Moore y Les Hite, tocó con Boyd Raeburn antes de unirse a Lionel Hampton en 1946. Durante la década de 1950 trabajó con Ellington. Como miembro de la banda de Ellington, se le puede escuchar en Such Sweet Thunder (1957), Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Duke Ellington Song Book (también 1957), Black, Brown, and Beige (1958) y Ellington Indigos (1958). En 1960 dejó a Duke Ellington, Posteriormente trabajó con Mingus y se le puede escuchar en el álbum Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus (1963).
