Motherhood sessions really are some of my absolute favorite sessions I offer. Every spring, I offer these sessions at a discounted rate because I think it’s super important that moms get in pictures with their kids, because if you are anything like me, your scrolling through your camera roll endlessly trying to find just one picture of you and your kid together, meanwhile your camera roll is filled of everyone else creating memories with them (I also have a lot of pictures of my dog, lol). Through a combination of stained-glass-like tapestries, draped fabric in a wide variety of colors, altars, and interactive elements, this space reclaims queerness as divine. Especially in the current political climate which often reduces queer and especially trans folks to very limited and often negative storylines, we desperately need nuanced sanctuaries for exploration, growth, renewal, healing, and re-story-ation. . Now that it’s close to the end of the year I’ve been thinking of a lot of goals I want to reach in my business (and outside my business) for next year. 2023 was a year I didn’t expect my business to honestly do as well as it did. I started in 2021 so to be at the point now that I am is something I truly never expected. I didn’t expect for this to ever be anything more than a “little side gig”. But then I remember how much I worked hard to get to where I am now. It’s been a learning curve figuring out how to run a successful and profitable business that people want to keep coming back to me for, and 2024 is already gearing up to be even busier than this year. This year I just want to focus on giving my clients an even better experience, and also working on giving myself more of a work-life balance schedule. I have a newborn prep guide in the works, a booking link calendar is coming for those that inquire, and I’d like to expand my client closet to include more neutral items. I’m currently taking a mentorship course online that is really helping teach me a new style of photographing newborns in the home that I’ve been slowly implementing into my sessions and I am absolutely loving this timeless style and cannot wait to implement it even more into upcoming sessions. I’ve been wanting to create a little film to digital comparison for a while now and I’m thinking about making this a weekly-biweekly? occurrence to show the qualities of both film & digital. I love shooting in both formats, though the process is very different. I often find myself going back into my digital edits to make the colors & tones feel a bit more like film. I took these of the beautiful @sydneyvezza back in August on both 120 & 35 mm film. Film is first or left & digital follows (2nd or right). Hope everyone is having a great summer with friends and family! As you can see I had some fun with this family trying to get more than just that stoically posed family portrait! Photography is so much more than just a quick press of a button-they had to put up with a lot of moving around to make sure the picture didn't feel heavy in any direction or that no one was hiding behind anyone else. Outdoor photography also always means we might need to move around because the lighting changed or the wind picked up, or other members of the public showed up.
