Another lovely session this morning with this little cutie! 4 months old and already smashing her training! During our session today this puppy's human siblings were out playing with their friends. They came over to say hello and we took the opportunity to involve them in her training. In turn we asked them to ask puppy for a sit followed by giving her reinforcement of either a treat or fuss providing all four paws were still on the floor. Such a cute puppy who wouldn't want to say hello! This handsome face ditched the harness last night because: 🐾 they are no longer a puppy 🐾 they have pretty much mastered how to walk nicely without pulling on a lead through training 🐾 they disliked wearing it which was an incentive for the human to work harder at loose lead training to support them 🐾 they are polite, sociable non reactive to people, dogs and other triggers (so minimal requirements to have the need to grab a harness) 🐾 they have a well fitted safe collar 🐾 they have a perfect lead which is long enough to handle safe pavement walks as well as extend to sniffy moments too 🐾 they know what their human cues mean! 🐾 the humans mechanics of the lead are awesome! 🪄I love what I do and each transformation, step, milestone, moment is so special however Friday with Betty was magical. The wonderful Betty came from difficult circumstances had so many challenges in front of her. I’ve been working with Richard and Shirley for sometime with Betty’s challenges, they have been wonderful and we have seen so many improvements. One of their big concerns was that Betty has never listened or taken food in an outdoor environment and has never settled in an environment other than her home, holiday home or car. This was her Friday taking treats outside, loose lead, fully engaged with Rich. They were a team in an outdoor environment and it was magical to witness then she came back in the hall and lay down. 🥹🪄 I’m so proud of Rich and Betty and shout out to Shirley and Frieda who have played their part behind the scenes beautifully. ✨ I HAVE A SECRET TO TELL YOU! ✨ I have now started my studies to become a qualified canine behaviourist and trainer! 🤩 As many of you know, I have such a huge interest in canine psychology, how they interact with us, how they interact with other dogs and am always trying to learn more about the latest science of it all. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I took the plunge and signed up to start my Level 3 IMDT course and I couldn’t be more excited. This has been a long time coming! Once qualified, the training arm of the business shall run along side TTP dog walking so don’t worry! I love dog walking, my fantastic dogs and lovely clients so I don’t plan on giving that up any time soon. Lastly, I want to thank my TTP customers. Hello and welcome to Wild Paw!☀️ My name is Charlie and this is my 1 year old lab Remy🫶 Since childhood I have wanted to work with animals, and now finally that dream is becoming a reality ❤️🔥 My first dog, Indy inspired me to seriously pursue this career- he was a rescue from Cyprus and devastatingly had many physical and mental issues, resulting in his life being cut too short. We naively thought we were in for the classic ‘Disney dog’ experience. How wrong we were! He taught me so much about dog behaviour, nutrition, training, how to fully understand a dog’s body language. I could read him better than I can read human beings, I became fully in tune with him. Every mood, every look, trigger, I knew what made him tick, what made him angry or scared. Our bond was unique and it took a while, but it was so worth it. He was absolutely meant to be our dog. My long term goal is to help rehabilitate dogs like Indy, help them find their feet in life & show them that there is good in the world, and they can get help. Equally I want to contribute to raising awareness for positive reinforcement training methods, because I believe every dog should be treated with respect and with kindness. You don’t need to use force or be unkind to any animal. I believe in and use force free/positive reinforcement training, and am training with @theimdt ~ The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers. Three of my biggest inspirations in the force free/R+ world are @victoriastilwell @zakgeorge and @louise.glazebrook 💯 I am so excited to begin this journey and will be sharing updates about my qualifications, how I train Remy and of course training & working with dogs and their guardians/parents.
