***Rest In Paradise: Mark Margolis*** My first glimpse of the late, Mark Margolis, was when I saw 1983’s “Scarface” for the first time, back when I was in my first year of art school. My roommate had purchased the VHS copy from Suncoast, and we watched it on my TV/VCR combo. Since then, “Scarface” became my all-time favorite movie. He portrayed the role of Alberto, Sosa’s “right-hand man”, who assisted Tony, Manolo, and Chi-Chi in taking out an activist in NYC. He was also in the HBO series, “OZ”, where he portrayed the role of Antonio Nappa. He’s also starred in movies like “Pi”, “Requiem For A Dream”, “The Wrestler”, and “Black Swan”, all of which have been directed by Darren Aronofsky. He made a resurgence in “Breaking Bad” and its spinoff, “Better Call Saul”, as Hector Salamanca, a role he is best known for from a younger audience. ***Rest In Paradise: “Leaping” Lanny Poffo*** One of the nicest guys in wrestling, Lanny Poffo ALWAYS put others before his own, and was very respectful and appreciative of the fans. When I first met Lanny back in 2015, it was months after my mom’s passing. We must’ve spoke for about 15-minutes or so, cause he wanted to know more about me. He even spoke to me in Tagalog, when I told him I was Filipino, in which he spoke with excellent pronunciation. I was blown away by that!!! During that meet & greet, I recall asking him if he had any more of those frisbees with one of his poems printed on them, to which he told me they were long gone. Instead, he handed me a book of his poems, signed it, and told me it was a gift from me to you. I thanked him, and shook his hand…all while wearing his brother’s (“Macho Man” Randy Savage), WWE Hall Of Fame ring, which he had been inducted months prior to that event. It was one of THE most memorable and kindest gestures that ANY wrestler has done for me. And I’ve attended LOTS of meet & greets in my time. The 2nd time I’ve met him (and ironically, my last), was at The Wrestling Collector in Stockholm, when he, WWE Hall Of Famer, Tony Atlas, and TNA Hall Of Famer, senior referee, Earl Hebner, did a meet & greet at the store. The guy ahead of me had Lanny “freestyle” a poem “on-the-spot” about his brother on the police force, to which I was amazed, cause he didn’t miss a beat. He LITERALLY is a “genius”. He spoke with such eloquence and poise when he spoke on the mic, and even more so, in person. I will ALWAYS remember Lanny for being very humble and kind to all his fans. I take comfort that he is now reunited with his legendary brother, the “Macho Man” Randy Savage, and his father, Angelo Poffo. I first met Chazz Palminteri at Terrificon 5 years ago at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut. 3 years ago, I got to meet the “ageless” Taral Hicks, who co-starred with Chazz in “A Bronx Tale”, as Jane Williams (Calogero “C”’s love interest). For years, I’ve ALWAYS mistaken Jeremy London for his twin brother, Jason, who starred in Richard Linklater’s ode to the 70’s “Dazed And Confused”, as Randall “Pink” Floyd. It wasn’t until I saw an article on People Magazine that both Jeremy and Jason are identical twins, and have each made their own mark in Hollywood. Jeremy is best known for his role as T.S. When I met Gabrielle Carteris at Chiller Theatre, I told her it’s been 24 years since I’ve last seen her in person. Back in 1993, she was a guest speaker for our E.R.A.S.E. (End Racism And Sexism Everywhere) group in high school. She ACTUALLY remembers visiting my school for that and we spoke for a few minutes about that time. I still have that pre-signed 8x10 glossy that she had distributed for everyone at school for those that attended that assembly that day. By the time of that assembly, I was no longer a member of E.R.A.S.E., since it’s been quite some time since I showed up at meetings. Most of the core members were able to share the stage with her that day. She even did a short “Q & A”, where students asked her questions about her time and what it was like working in a show like “Beverly Hills 90210”.
