Spellbound is on the road again! It feels so nice to be back amongst our herb friends after three long years of pandemic. This time we’re in Austin, Texas, home of the wonderful @herbalgramabc ! Yesterday was their first Herb Day since 2019, and they pulled out all the stops. We perused great vendors including @sacredmoonherbs and @buddhasbrew kombucha and had wonderful talks from some of the most knowledgeable folks in the industry including @cookinwithherbs, @tina_marie_wilcox, and the incomparable @rosemarygladstar. We came as members of the International Herb Association, whose Herb of the Year this year is Ginger! Not only did we glean a wealth of knowledge from these folks but we got a renewed sense of wonder for the magical world of herbs. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a flowering plant whose rhizome is widely used as a culinary spice and medicine. Asarum canadense, unrelated to the commercially available ginger root, is Canadian wild ginger, a native plant found in woodland areas.
