This is a message to everyone in the UK who follows Hectors House Crete. A few months ago now, one of our lovely pups Mario travelled to his new home in the UK. Before Mario travelled to the UK he had spent time in foster care with other puppies and adult dogs, with no problems at all. Unfortunately, for some reason, he does not get on with the doggies in his new household. His new owners have tried everything to help him. They have sought advice from dog trainers but nothing seems to help. So, because of this Mario is looking for a new home, preferably to be the only dog. He is vaccinated, house trained and neutered. He is great with children too. Mario is 55cm to the shoulder. Weights 14.5 kg His Date of Birth is 22.06.2023 which makes him currently 11 months old. Update: Both reserved for adoption. Here we have, in my opinion, two of the most beautiful puppies I have ever seen here ( and I have seen many over the years). They were left, as per usual, in the middle of nowhere, and were brought to us in November 2023. Sorry that it has taken some time to post them as available, but promises were made for re-homing, but the promises have not come through. Anyway, here we have Marvin and Tammi. Born around 05.11.2023. They look like Rough Collie mixes, have the most gorgeous colouring and coats and have lovely calm personalities. Lately we have been working very hard re-vamping our dog pens so that the dogs stay dry and do not get muddy during the winter months. So far we have finished 15 pens. Each pen takes an average of 30 concrete paving slabs at 2.00 euros each and so far the cost has been around 950.00 euros. We were lucky to be given a donation of 650.00 from our lovely friend Miranda Reitsma last year towards our building project which has helped greatly towards the project. But as we have another 30 pens to re-vamp at a cost of approx 1800.00 we are asking for some help financially as we really do not have enough funds to cover this cost. This gorgeous little lady is Holly, one of the 4 puppies abandoned in an Orange Grove about 6 weeks ago. She is a tough little cookie, but as soft and affectionate as you could wish. She loves to go outside in the courtyard and I suspect will be quite the one for her walkies when she gets older. She absolutely adores my black and white Benny cat and I have to say the feeling is mutual. This little poser is Mary the smallest of the olive grove pups, what she loses in size she makes up for in character, my goodness is she a little miss bossy boots. If there is a playfight you can bet your life she is in the thick of it, if she were human you would call her a Tomboy, but despite that she still loves a cuddle and likes to suck my finger and go to sleep on my chest, she is a real little love bug. She is darker in colour than her siblings, but still has a lot of the broken brindle markings, she is very broad in the beam which is so cute, with her curly little tail over her back. He is the only boy in the litter and very much a baby, he has been right at the back of the queue with all his learning except for toilet training, where he has come out on top, he is the one that has taught himself to go do his business outside. Rudy is mostly grey fawn in colour. He has the most lovely marking and a very a thick wooly coat. He seems to have the makings, of a very loyal dog, he follows me around everywhere or will come running to me if out of sight and I call him. We, (Sandra, Olivier (our newest recruit) and I ) have been working very hard on the dog pens, so that the dogs do not get so wet and covered in mud when it rains. It's very hard manual work as each has to be dug out to make the ground level as many of the dogs have made huge holes all over and then we lay heavy paving stones. As you may know from reading past posts that we have 14 'older puppies' at @hectorshousecrete. These pups are now of the age where they need to be neutered, microchipped and vaccinated against rabies (this is a legal requirement). Also we obviously do not need anymore 'unwanted' puppies 🙂.png This will cost us around 1800.00 euros. We do try to raise most of our funds locally by doing sponsored walks, quiz nights, bingo etc., but this barely covers the cost of food. As you probably all know we have another 5 puppies here at @hectorshousecrete , which brings the total of puppies in our care to 24. We DESPERATELY need to find homes for these guys as we just do not have the room to accommodate 24 more dogs and it also means that we cannot take in any more defenceless puppies, which just breaks my heart. Earlier this week I had a message from a lovely Greek man regarding some puppies that he saw near the Olive factory in Pirgos. He was going each day to feed them and so was John Walsh. I explained to Aris that I was very ill with Covid but would try and rescue them soon as. Anyway, today I met up with Aris and he managed to catch the pups (kicking and screaming as they are a little feral) and I managed to get them to @hectorshousecrete this evening. Just what we need, more puppies, but what can we do, just leave them to run wild and get killed on the road or poisoned etc.... So that is an extra 5 puppies in the last few days. Please help us to look after them as they will need good food, parasite treatment and vaccinations......all this costs a lot money.
