For our 150th year, we wanted to celebrate with some Dublin merch! These pewter ornaments are part of a series of Guelph heritage churches and buildings. Dublin now has the rights to our own ornament and it can be ordered again in the future, but sold only through Dublin Church. They are Canadian and handmade in Bracebridge, Ontario. The Dublin Pewter Commemorative Ornament will be sold on select Sundays after church or at any of the 150th Anniversary events at Dublin. Payment can be made then by cash, debit or credit card. Dublin's auditorium has a court (a few inches narrower than regulation width), a net, balls, two spare paddles, and excellent curtains for stopping wild shots. A group plays Tuesday mornings but the auditorium is also available Monday and Wednesday mornings. At $5 per session, it's both a bargain and a way to raise funds for the church. This Sunday we’re continuing in our ‘God is…’ series. We’re going to gather around the communion table and we’re going to talk about grace and how important it is to have a healthy view of God. Crispin Mayfield, in his book ‘Attached to God’ says this… The question of what God is like is not merely an abstract one. When we're given a distorted picture of God, we end up with unhealthy practices that don't only impact our personal lives. How we relate to God affects our systems, our politics, and how we practice our faith in the world. If we can't see the delight that God has in us as beloved children of God, we will also be blind to God's delight in others. We encourage everyone to ensure proper Solar Eclipse safety measures for the Solar Eclipse today Monday, April 8. The peak will be from 2 to 4:30 pm. The moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, casting a shadow on the Earth's surface. Some reminders since our last Solar Eclipse was in 2017 (7 years ago)! This event is not expected to happen again until 2399. Did you know that all 10,000 solar eclipse glasses were picked up at the Guelph Public Libraries by local community members? Stay after lunch to learn how to make milk bag mats with Sue and the Sunday School. The cost is $5 per person or pay what you can. If you are able to assist with the lunch, please sign up on the Volunteer Sign Up board at the church. A little more about milk bag mats… Milk bag mats are sent to disaster areas and underdeveloped countries where people may be sleeping on bare earth or cardboard. The milk bags provide an ideal material for weaving as the are made of strong, colourful, UV resistant material. Once woven, the mats are quite soft. Creating mats out of milk bags prevents them from going into landfills where they are do not disintegrate. It’s a win-win – provide someone a soft surface to sleep on while making a positive contribution to the earth!
